  • Publication number: 20050102555
Abstract: A disk array connected to a storage area network via a fibre channel has one or more ports each controlled by a processor. Even the disk array with one port and one processor executes online processing and backup processing at the same time while considering an online processing load. A port controller not only accepts a request from a host computer but issues a request to other storage controllers to allow online processing and backup processing to be executed at the same time. In addition, the disk array, if provided with a plurality of ports, selects ports or schedules processing depending upon the load to prevent backup processing from affecting online processing performance.

  • Publication number: 20040161746
Abstract: The present inventors collected blood samples from a plurality of normal healthy subjects and allergic disease patients, and conducted the differential display analysis to search for a gene that shows a difference in its expression among them. As a result, the inventors succeeded in isolating the B1153 gene whose expression level is significantly high in the allergic disease patient group. The inventors found it possible to utilize this gene in testing for an allergic disease, and screening for a candidate compound for a therapeutic agent for an allergic disease.

  • Publication number: 20040015641
Abstract: A storage sub-system employs a staging control information table by which staging of data to be read and redundant data thereof can be executed together to reduce response time in the event of a data read failure. The staging control information table also permits pre-read staging to be executed in the forward, backward or both the forward and backward directions, to reduce response time.

  • Publication number: 20030224423
Abstract: B1799 gene, whose expression level increases significantly in the patient group, was successfully identified by screening for a gene which shows difference in expression in blood collected from multiple healthy subjects and patients of allergic diseases employing the differential display method. The gene expression level is specifically high in T cells and increased due to T cell activation. This gene can be used in testing for allergic diseases and also in screening for therapeutic agents for allergic diseases.

  • Patent number: 5720028
Abstract: An external storage system has a storage unit for storing data and a plurality of storage controllers for controlling data transfer between an upper level system and the storage unit. Each storage controller has a data buffer for temporarily storing data and a controller for controlling the operation of the storage controller. The external storage system has a management memory for storing management information of the plurality of storage controllers each of which accesses this memory to monitor the operation states of other storage controllers. The external storage system has a first storage controller for processing an input-output request from the upper level system and a second storage controller for standing by for backup for a failed storage controller.

  • Patent number: 5457791
Abstract: A storage system comprises a disc drive unit including a plurality of logical drive groups each having a plurality of physical drives, and a disc drive control unit for controlling the information transfer between the disc drive unit and the host system. The logical data arriving from the host system is divided into a plurality of continuous data blocks, from which redundant data is prepared for data restoration. The redundant data is added to the continuous data blocks to provide updated logical data. The storage system is controlled in such a way as to write the updated logical data into a plurality of physical drives. In the case where a fault develops in any of the data blocks of the physical drives to be accessed, redundant data is generated from the updated logical data.
