  • Patent number: 6653778
Abstract: A high boiling-point solvent, included in a fluorescent color conversion film, suppresses degradation in color conversion characteristic by compensating for a decrease in dielectric constant due to solidification of the matrix system. The fluorescent color conversion film of the present invention includes, in addition to the high boiling point solvent, organic fluorescent dyes, which absorb light in a near ultraviolet to visible light region and emit visible light of a different wavelength, and a matrix resin bearing the organic fluorescent dye. The high boiling point solvent has a boiling point of 150° C. or higher and a vapor pressure of 5 mmHg or lower at the temperature of 20° C. The fluorescent color conversion film is useful in a fluorescent color conversion filter, which itself is useful in light-emitting devices, such as self-emitting multi-colored- or full colored-displays, display panels and backlights.

  • Patent number: 6627367
Abstract: An electrophotographic photoconductor a substrate and a photosensitive layer on the substrate. The photosensitive layer contains charge generation substance, charge transport substance and a binder resin. The binder resin has a dispersion d1=Mz/Mw of at least 1.6, and/or a polydispersity d2=Mw/Mn of at least 2.0, each of d1 and d2 being an indicator of a range of molecular weight distribution converted to polystyrene standard, wherein Mz, Mw and Mn are a z-average molecular weight, a weight-average molecular weight, and a number-average molecular weight of the binder resin, respectively. The resulting electrophotographic photoconductor minimizes film abrasion and filming, allowing the photoconductor to possess stable characteristics in repeated use over long periods.

  • Patent number: 6506506
Abstract: A fluorescent color conversion film has an organic fluorescent dye, which absorbs light obtained from a light-emitting element in the near ultraviolet to the visible range and emits a visible light of a different wavelength, and a matrix resin, which bears the organic fluorescent dye. The organic dye is an immobilized organic fluorescent dye enclosed by a cyclodextrin derivative represented by general formula (I), wherein n is an integer from 4 to 10, each of R1-R5 are selected independently from the group consisting of a hydrogen atom, a carboxyl group, a hydroxyl group, and a C1-C6 alkyl group. An organic light-emitting device equipped with this fluorescent color conversion film suppresses the decomposition and quenching of the fluorescent dye from attacks by radicals generated from the polymerization initiators in photolithography and/or growth radicals of reactive multifunctional monomers.

  • Patent number: 6358652
Abstract: A fluorescent conversion filter suppresses decomposition and quenching of fluorescent dyes or pigments. An organic light-emitting device may be equipped with such a fluorescent conversion filter. The fluorescent conversion filter is formed by coating with a coating material, followed by patterning by photolithography. The coating material consists of a mixture of organic fluorescent dye or pigment that absorbs light in the ultraviolet to visible light region. The coating also includes a photo-setting or photo-and-thermo-setting resin containing a photopolymerizaion initiator of a hydrogen abstraction type having a benzophenone skeleton within the molecule. As a result, an organic light-emitting device is produced by combining the a fluorescent conversion filter with an organic light-emitting element.
