  • Patent number: 5409361
Abstract: Disclosed is a center mechanism of a tire curing press which is capable of easy installation and removal of a bladder assembly. The center mechanism comprises the bladder assembly with the upper and lower ends of a bladder supported with upper and lower support members, a piston rod vertically moving into, and out of, engagement with the upper support members, and a lift cylinder vertically moving into, and out of, engagement with the lower support members. In this center mechanism, there is provided a stepped projecting section formed large in diameter in the upper part and small in diameter in the lower part; the upper support members can easily be installed to, and removed from, the upper end of the piston rod by the use of a stepped block which engages the stepped projecting section and is horizontally divided into a plurality of segments, and a restricting member for restricting the horizontal movement of the stepped block, thereby enabling easy installation and removal of the bladder assembly.

  • Patent number: 5344295
Abstract: A rim clearance adjusting device of a postcure tire inflator is capable of automatically adjusting a clearance between upper and lower rims, A vulcanized tire from a vulcanizer is filled with high-pressure air for inflating and cooling purposes. For these purposes there is installed a rotating screw member which holds the tire between the separable upper and lower rims, and moves the lower rim upwards and downwards between the lower rim and its support member. Also there is provided a sliding device for moving the lower rim, together with the support member thereof, between the lower position of the upper rim and the intermediate position on the vulcanizer side. And furthermore there is mounted a driving mechanism for driving the rotating screw member to the intermediate position.

  • Patent number: 4404848
Abstract: A method for correcting errors of measurement in a tire uniforming inspecting machine having a pair of upper and lower rims engageable with bead portions of a tire for gripping the tire securely for rotation at a predetermined position and a load wheel engageable with the circumference of the tire at one side thereof to check for variations in the radial force, including: measuring radial runout of the rims and/or load wheel to obtain an erronous deflection signal indicating the amount of radial runout of the rims and/or load wheel; obtaining and storing a primary harmonic component of the erroneous deflection signal; measuring variations in radial force of a tire rotated on the rims to obtain a radial variation signal for a period of one revolution of the tire; multiplying the erroneous deflection signal by a spring constant of the tire to obtain an erroneous variation signal; and subtracting the erroneous variation signal from the radial variation signal to eliminate influence of radial runout of the rims a

  • Patent number: 4404849
Abstract: A method for correcting errors of measurement due to variations in tire pressure in a tire uniformity inspecting operation, wherein a tire is inflated and rotated between a pair of rims and a load wheel is pressed against the tire and a radial force variation of said tire is measured, including: detecting a deviation of actual air pressure of the tire from a predetermined measuring pressure level to determine a correction coefficient; calculating a value of tire uniformity from the measured value of radial force variation according to the predetermined measuring pressure level; multiplying the calculated value of uniformity by the correction coefficient to compensate for any erroneous component due to a variation in the tire pressure.
