  • Patent number: 5837963
Abstract: A method of manufacturing thin film magnetic heads, including the steps of forming, on one surface of a substrate, a plurality of electromagnetic transducer elements and a plurality of input and output terminals electrically connected to the transducer elements, forming a protection layer on the surface of the substrate to cover at least the transducer elements, forming terminal cover layers and a seed layer thereof on the surface in order to cover the input and output terminals, respectively, and forming identification marks for identifying the magnetic head on the protection layer by laser beam machining. The identification mark forming step is performed during the terminal cover layer forming step.

  • Patent number: 4564877
Abstract: A magnetic recording method for recording a digital signal in the form of a two dimensional plane on a magnetic recording medium like a magnetic tape, a magnetic disc etc. Magnetic flux is generated according to a shape of the surface of the magnetic recording head facing the recording medium. Thus, digital information is recorded on the recording medium in the form of two dimensional information according to the shape of the surface of the magnetic head.A magnetic recording medium on which two dimensional information has been recorded by the above recording method, and a reproducing method for reproducing the recorded information on said magnetic recording medium are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 4562502
Abstract: An optical reproducing system for reading out magnetically recorded data comprises an optical head (4,4a,4b,4c,4d) for copying magnetic pattern on a magnetic recording medium like a magnetic tape (1), a conversion system (5,6,7,8,9,10) for converting a magnetic pattern on the optical head (4 et al.) to an optical pattern by using the Faraday effect which rotates a polarization of an LED beam (light emission diode) or a laser beam according to magnetic polarity in a domain in said optical head, a charge coupled device (3, CCD) with a plurality of cells for converting beam energy polarized according to recorded data to correspond to electrical output signal. The CCD device effects the conversion or reading of a plurality of data simultaneously.

  • Patent number: 4454195
Abstract: A magnetic recording medium has a magnetic recording layer comprising from 75 to 90% by weight of Co and up to 5% by weight of Cr, the rest being V. The magnetic recording layer has an easy magnetization axis in the perpendicular direction to the layer surface. The magnetic recording medium is prepared by sputtering a composition of Co-V-Cr onto a substrate at an industrially feasible deposition speed of at least 3000 .ANG./min to form the above mentioned recording layer on the substrate.
