Abstract: An enlargement display utility program determines the range of an enlargement display area including a caret displayed on the display screen. The program enlarges an image in the determined range of the enlargement display area at a predetermined magnifying power, and requests the operating system to display the enlarged image in the range of the enlargement display area in a predetermined enlargement display window. With this operation, desired contents can be enlarged/displayed while the enlargement display area is always and automatically set at the position desired by the user.

Abstract: A utility program previously registers card/program registration information indicating a correspondence relation between the names of various cards and file names of various application programs used for effecting processes for the respective cards into a registry of an OS. The utility program acquires information indicating data of insertion/removal and the name of an expansion card inserted into or removed from a card slot by referring to device information held in the registry. The utility program derives a file name of an application program corresponding to the acquired name of the expansion card by referring to the card/program registration information registered in the registry and requesting the OS to start the application program when the data of insertion/removal indicates the insertion.

At this time, the directive data of motor-off is set to the motor-off register (DMOFF) within the HDD due to the procession caused by the timer-interruption. In accordance with the directive data, the disk-driving motor is controlled so as to be automatically stopped.

Abstract: System and method for a computer system having a hard disk drive (HDD) having a function of stopping the disk driving motor of the HDD after an elapse of a predetermine period of time after accessing the HDD. A use/non-use state of the computer system is monitored while the system is being powered. Different shut off times are set based on whether a use or non-use state is detected. After the set periods of time, computer shut down occurs.

Abstract: A vertical shaft internal combustion engine particularly adapted for powering a rotary type lawn mower. The engine is provided with a baffled crankcase so as to minimize the adverse effects of oil "sloshing" within the crankcase while, at the same time, permitting flow between the baffles. In addition, an oil slinger arrangement is incorporated that is also baffled so as to reduce frothing in the crankcase to reduce aeration of the oil in the crankcase and also to direct the oil flow from the slinger.
