    Abstract: A photosensitive resin composition suitable for producing a virgin flexographic printing plate, a process for the production thereof and a virgin flexographic printing plate. The photosensitive resin composition comprises (1) a photosensitive microgel obtained by emulsion-polymerizing (a) a compound having an .alpha., .beta.-ethylenically unsaturated double bond in the presence, as an emulsifier, of (b) a compound containing a tertiary ammonium salt to prepare (A) fine microgel particles and reacting the (A) fine microgel particles with (B) a compound having an epoxy group to react with the tertiary ammonium salt and at least one .alpha., .beta.-ethylenically unsaturated double bond per molecule, (2) a compound having an .alpha., .beta.-ethylenically unsaturated double bond, and (3) a rubber or thermoplastic elastomer.
