  • Patent number: 5961165
Abstract: An outer door handle structure is operated as a directly operating system wherein an engaging piece of an unlocking lever for unlocking a door is directly depressed by the tip portion of an operating lever mounted on an outer door handle via an arm portion, so that any transmission mechanisms such as a rod can be omitted unlike conventional indirect operating systems. The arm portion has an inclined portion on which the engaging piece of the unlocking lever can slide up when a load is applied to the outer door handle from the outside. The outer door handle may have a pair of arm portions spaced at an interval in a horizontal direction. One of the arm portions has a preset quantity of rotational stroke necessary to unlock the door, and the other arm portion has a greater quantity of rotational stroke than that of the one arm portion by forming a recessed portion in the other arm portion or the like.

  • Patent number: 5117664
Abstract: Sensors such as switches are arranged to detect the insertion of a key into a key cylinder, the rotation of the key to one or more operative positions, the position of a transmission shift level, the depressions of a brake pedal and the like, and to produce signals which are processed by logic circuits in a manner to determine the energization mode and timing of the solenoid or the like motor arrangement in a manner which locks or releases a safety button which must be pressed before the steering column of a vehicle can be locked. The mechanism which performs the locking operation is mounted on the exterior of the housing in which the key cylinder is disposed, thus facilitating assembly.

  • Patent number: 5046779
Abstract: A sunroof structure for an automotive vehicle comprising a sunroof lid. The sunroof lid includes a center panel made of glass. A surrounding panel formed of sheet metal is securely fixed around the center panel. The surrounding panel is formed thereunder with a link receiving space in which a link bracket of a driving link mechanism is received. The link bracket is drivingly connected to the surrounding panel so that the driving link mechanism drives the sunroof lid.

  • Patent number: 4982584
Abstract: A steering lock system for locking a steering system of an automotive vehicle equipped with an automatic transmission. The steering lock system is comprised of a selector position sensor for detecting a selected position of a selector lever for the automatic transmission. The selector position sensor is adapted to produce a parking position signal when the selector lever is at a park position. A key cylinder is rotatable to take a LOCK position by an ignition key insertable into the key cylinder. The ignition key is enabled to be pulled out of the key cylinder at the LOCK position, upon which a steering shaft is locked. The ignition key is disabled from being pulled out of the key cylinder upon absence of the parking position signal from the selector position sensor while is enabled to be pulled out of the key cylinder only in response to the parking position signal from the selector position sensor, thereby improving reliability of operation of the steering lock system.

  • Patent number: 4909199
Abstract: A system for controlling an ignition device for a a motor vehicle comprises a key operated movable member, a blocking mechanism for automatically blocking the key operated movable member against return movement once the key operated movable member has moved beyond a predetermined position, and means responsive to a predetermined condition of the vehicle for restraining a manual release member of the blocking mechanism from actuation for releasing the blocking mechanism.

  • Patent number: 4871994
Abstract: To prevent an automatic transmission vehicle from creeping when the engine is started with the shift lever set to Neutral position, an alarm is produced when the shift lever is set to shift positions other than Park position and simultaneously the ignition key is removed from the ignition key cylinder or inserted into the ignition key cylinder at engine halt. Therefore, whenever the driver removes the ignition key from the ignition key cylinder or inserts the ignition key into the ignition key cylinder at engine halt, the driver is forced to securely set the shift lever to Park position on the alarm signal.

  • Patent number: 4566576
Abstract: A reduction gear mechanism comprising a worm and a worm wheel which mechanism includes a magnet clutch wherein a coil is disposed in one side of the worm wheel which serves as a rotor, while an armature is disposed in the other side of the same. Upon energization of the coil, the mechanism acts as a normal reduction gear whereas, upon deenergization, an output power shaft of the clutch can be rotated freely or independently. Since the incorporation of the magnet clutch results in no substantial increase of the size of the reduction gear mechanism, the mechanism can be advantageously installed where a space for installation is restricted, such as a door of an automobile.

  • Patent number: 4530185
Abstract: By providing two separate units for actively opening and closing a door of an automobile, safe and reliable door opening and closing operation may be achieved. The first unit is operated to open the door in a normal way and closes the door to its not fully latched state while the second unit completes the door closure operation by closing it to the fully latched state, thereby reducing the unfavorable influences arising from the impact which is otherwise unavoidable for complete closure of the door.

  • Patent number: 4487042
Abstract: A steering lock assembly to lock and unlock a steering shaft by use of a key. The rotation of the rotor through key manipulation is controlled by a knob provided back of the steering lock assembly with a spacing to make impossible one-hand operation. Only when the knob is depressed, control means permits the rotor to rotate from an unlock position to a lock position with the result that car accidents due to inadvertent pulling out of the key on a down-hill ride is avoided.
