  • Patent number: 6102466
Abstract: A foot-rest support plate for a vehicle in which the support plate is separate from a dashboard and a floor panel. The support plate is comprised of a vertical plate portion contacting a rear surface of the dashboard, a rearward-declining plate portion connected to a lower end of the vertical plate portion which faces the bottom of the feet of an occupant, and a horizontal plate portion connected to a lower end of the declining plate portion and contacting an upper surface of the floor panel. The vertical plate portion is coupled to the dashboard, the horizontal plate portion is coupled to the floor panel, and the declining plate portion is not coupled to the vehicle body.

  • Patent number: 5806918
Abstract: A vehicle body structure includes a pair of floor frames, a pair of auxiliary frames, and a pair of side sills disposed in juxtaposition about a longitudinal central axis of a vehicle body and arranged in the order named in a transversely outward direction of the vehicle body wherein the auxiliary frames have front ends spaced rearwardly, by a predetermined distance, from rear end portions of a pair of side outriggers. A front portion of the vehicle body located forwardly of the front ends of the auxiliary frames has less rigidity than a rear portion located rearwardly of the rear ends of the auxiliary frames. The vehicle body structure thus constructed can effectively absorb the energy of a crush or collision while maintaining a certain degree of rigidity. The side sills are each composed of a box-shaped hollow member containing therein an elongated reinforcing member.

  • Patent number: 5803514
Abstract: A structure for mounting a bumper beam 2 extending transversely of a vehicle covered with a bumper face 6 and mounted to a chassis 3 through a support 4, in which the bumper beam 2 is formed into a hollow body made of high-tension steel, the front end of the support 4 extends forward beyond the rear portion of the bumper beam 2. Thus, when a large collision energy works on the lightweight bumper beam formed into a hollow body made of high-tension steel, the collision energy is quickly transferred to the vehicle chassis through the front end of the beam.

  • Patent number: 5464252
Abstract: An anchor device for a seat belt for connecting, to a vehicle, a webbing for restraining an occupant to a seat so that a load applied to the webbing is received by the vehicle body. The anchor device includes a frame on which an anchor for locking the webbing is supported, a shock absorbing member which is secured at one end to the frame and at the other end to the vehicle body and which is capable of being deformed by a load applied to the frame, and a coupling member for coupling a portion of the shock absorbing member near the other end to the frame. The coupling member is broken or deformed by the load applied to the frame to separate the frame and the shock absorbing member from each other. Thus, when a load is applied from the webbing to the anchor of the seat belt, the anchor is moved properly to absorb the shock.
