  • Patent number: 7350956
Abstract: A backlight unit prevents the display quality degradation of a LCD device and improves the long-term reliability thereof. The unit comprises at least one fluorescent lamp having a first end and a second end; a first cable or wire connected to the first end of the lamp; and a second cable or wire connected to the second end of the lamp. The first cable or wire is different in shape or type from the second cable or wire. A conductor of the first cable or wire is approximately equal in cross-sectional area to that of the second cable or wire. When two or more fluorescent lamps are used, a cross-sectional area of the conductor of the first cable connected commonly to the first ends of the lamps is approximately equal to the sum of cross-sectional areas of the conductors of the second cables or wires connected respectively to the second ends thereof.

  • Publication number: 20070230217
Abstract: Provided is a back light unit of an edge light type, including at least a light guiding plate, a lamp, a reflection sheet and a reflector. The lamp is disposed on the side surface side of the light guiding plate. The reflection sheet is disposed on the back surface side of the light guiding plate. The reflector supports the reflection sheet from the back surface of the reflection sheet, and reflects light from the lamp towards the light guiding plate. The back light unit has a structure in which the reflection sheet is caused to come into contact with a ridge where the side surface of the light guiding plate and the back surface thereof meet, by curving an end of the reflection sheet on the side of the light source towards the side of the light guiding plate.

  • Patent number: 7178963
Abstract: A liquid crystal display panel device has a backlight unit for illuminating the reverse surface of a liquid crystal display panel, and the backlight unit includes a diffusion plate, a diffusion sheet adhered to one of the major surfaces of the diffusion plate, a lamp house and a moisture-proof sheet inserted between the other surface of the diffusion plate and the lamp house; the moisture-proof sheet prevents the diffusion plate from vaporization of water contained in the diffusion plate, and the diffusion plate is not warped; the diffusion plate maintains the initial shape immediately after the assemblage into the backlight unit so that the liquid crystal display panel is continuously uniformly illuminated by the backlight unit.

  • Patent number: 6657685
Abstract: An LCD device has an LCD panel, a backlight unit for irradiating the rear surface of the LCD panel, and a backlight chassis for positioning the backlight unit with respect to the LCD panel. The backlight unit has a lamp, an optical conductive plate and an optical sheet assembly formed on the optical conductive plate. The optical sheet assembly includes a pair of light scattering sheets and a pair of lens sheets sandwiched between the pair of light scattering sheets. The edges of the lens sheets protrude from the edge of one of the light scattering sheet, which is flush with the edge of the optical conductive plate. A bright line degrading the image quality of the LCD device can be suppressed.

  • Patent number: 6611302
Abstract: A taper 31 is formed in a holding wall 15 in a holding frame 11 for holding the periphery of a flat display panel 2 such as a liquid crystal panel so as to be apart from the display panel 2 from the lower side of the boundary face between substrates 4 and 5 to the upper end. On the substrate 4 side lower than the boundary of the substrates 4 and 5, a holding face 15a which comes into contact with only the end face of the lower substrate 4 is provided.
