  • Patent number: 6310656
Abstract: In a divider, a ratio of a magnification or a reduction of an image is set from a writing range and a reading range. In a horizontal interpolating circuit and a vertical interpolating circuit, an interpolation is performed on the basis of the magnification ratio. In the horizontal interpolating circuit and the vertical interpolating circuit, an interpolation is performed on the basis of the reduction ratio. In a field memory, a portion of the image of an arbitrary size at an arbitrary position is written on the basis of a control signal which is supplied from a write memory control circuit. The image is read out from the memory on the basis of a control signal which is supplied from a read memory control circuit.

  • Patent number: 6226046
Abstract: A discrimination about a standard screen or a wide screen is performed by a discriminating circuit in accordance with the presence or absence of upper and lower black stripes of a wide screen video signal. A video signal transmitted through a low pass filter is supplied to the discriminating circuit, the presence or absence of the upper and lower black stripes of the video signal is detected and the discrimination about the standard screen or the wide screen is performed by the discriminating circuit. A noise level of the video signal is detected by an S/N ratio detecting circuit. Characteristics of the low pass filter are set in accordance with an output of the S/N ratio discriminating circuit.

  • Patent number: 5539474
Abstract: In order to reduce nonuniform deterioration of a display screen, such as a fluorescent screen, an image reproducing system such as a television receiver is so arranged that the position of a small picture is shifted automatically. The small picture may be a picture displayed on a larger display screen with blank margins, or a sub-picture displayed in a larger picture, or an image of alphanumeric data items. For example, a 4:3 aspect ratio picture is displayed in a 4:3 center section of a 16:9 wide aspect ratio screen between left and right blank margins. In this case, the system comprises a control section, such as a microcomputer, for determining whether a special display mode to display a small picture is selected or not, each time the power supply is turned on, and for shifting the position of the small picture in the larger screen when the special display mode is selected.
