  • Patent number: 10146168
Abstract: In a belt cleaning device, a pivot member supports a first rotation shaft of a cleaning roller in a rotatable manner, and is supported by a second rotation shaft of a collection roller. An elastic member keeps the cleaning roller contact with an endless belt at a position. A first seal portion, fixed to the pivot member, is in contact with the collection roller. A housing has a first space storing the cleaning roller and the collection roller, and a second space storing waste toner rubbed off from the collection roller by a blade. The housing supports the second rotation shaft. The second seal portion is fixed to one of an inner surface of the housing and the pivot member, and is in contact with the other. The blade, the first seal portion, and the second seal portion partition the housing into the first space and the second space.

  • Patent number: 9280092
Abstract: A developing device includes a storing portion, a stirring member, a developing roller, a shield plate, and a guide portion. The storing portion stores developer. The stirring member is rotatably provided in the storing portion and stirs the developer in the storing portion by being rotationally driven in a predetermined first rotation direction. The developing roller is rotatably provided above the stirring member, has a magnet that attracts the developer in the storing portion by a magnetic force, and is rotationally driven in a predetermined second rotation direction. The shield plate is made of a nonmagnetic material and provided at a facing position where the developing roller and the stirring member face each other. The guide portion is provided more on an upstream side in the first rotation direction than the facing position, and guides the developer from the storing portion to the developing roller side.

  • Patent number: 7751738
Abstract: An image forming apparatus has an image former to form a toner image on an image bearer. A primary transferer transfers the toner image from the image bearer to the outer surface of an intermediate transferer as primary transfer by applying a primary transfer bias. A secondary transferer transfers the toner image from the outer surface of the intermediate transferer to a sheet as secondary transfer by applying a secondary transfer bias. A cleaner cleans the toner residual on the surface of the intermediate transferer after the secondary transfer by applying a cleaning bias having a polarity opposite to electric charges of the toner. A controller causes the intermediate transferer to rotate continuously and causes the primary transferer to apply the primary transfer bias until a toner image forming area on the outer surface of the intermediate transferer passes the primary transferer after the secondary transfer.

  • Publication number: 20070086801
Abstract: In an image forming apparatus, a control section 41 adjusts the surface potential of a photoconductor or the developing potential of a developer carrying member based on the detection result of a surface potential sensor 44, and performs first correction whereby, relative to the reference value of the applied bias of a charger 2 or the developing bias of the developer carrying member in a developing unit 4 as observed during potential adjustment, the applied bias or the developing bias is varied so as to keep constant the potential difference between the surface potential of the photoconductor and the developing potential of the developer carrying member during image formation. The control section also performs second correction whereby the applied bias or the developing bias is restored to the reference value over a predetermined period after the completion of continuous image formation.
