    Abstract: In order to distinguish between a state where an upper casing of an electronic device is closed and a state where the upper casing is folded towards its back side, the electronic device having an upper casing (10) and a lower casing (20) that are connected to each other via a hinge (30) is arranged such that: a magnetic axis (12a) passing through a south pole and a north pole of a magnet (12) provided in the upper casing (10) is inclined with respect to a direction vertical to a surface of the upper casing (10) that faces the lower casing (20); and magnetic sensors (A and B) provided in the lower casing (20) distinguish between magnetic fields generated by the magnet (12) in a closed state and magnetic fields generated by the magnet (12) in a tablet state.
