  • Patent number: 6006377
Abstract: The object of the present invention is to provide a patient carrying device so adapted as to allow the patient take a comfortable posture or to freely carry the patient between the bed and the toilet, the bath-tub or otherwise desired locations. The patient carrying device is provided with a first mobile vehicle 10A and a second mobile vehicle 10B, each capable of freely running along rails 4 with its second motor 12. Each of the first mobile vehicle 10A and the second mobile vehicle 10B is further provided with a rotating wheel 15 for winding up or down a suspending rope 17 and a first motor 12 for driving the rotating wheel 15. The first motor 12 and the second motor 13 are operated in a pre-programmed fashion by operating the button of a remote controller 30.

  • Patent number: 5570482
Abstract: A bed equipment using a supporter for a human body, such as an incapacitated patient, is used to raise the patient from a surface, such as a bed, so that a hammock may be spread on the bed and the patient lowered onto the hammock. The supporter is formed by inserting an arm and a belt into a sleeve, and fits between the patient and the bed without causing the patient pain. Preferably, the belt has holes in either end so that suspending strings may be engaged by hooks. The suspending strings are raised or lowered by preferably independent motors so that the patient can be raised or lowered comfortably. The suspending strings may be moved relative to each another or fixed relative to each other. Once the patient is on the hammock, the hooks are removed from the supporter and attached to the hammock. Various rails and motors allow the patient on the hammock to be moved horizontally from the bed over a bathtub or toilet, and then lowered and raised accordingly.

  • Patent number: 5072840
Abstract: A medical bed apparatus is provided that has a body frame, a hoisting assembly and a hammock supported from the hoisting assembly by hanging strings. The body frame is positioned over a hospital bed or the like and a person is placed on the hammock. A pair of drums are provided in the hoisting assembly so that the hanging strings may be hoisted or wound on the drums in a first direction to lift the hammock. The drums are preferably cone-shaped such that the head portion of the hammock is initially lifted at a rate that is faster than the rate the foot portion of the hammock is lifted. Once the person's upper torso is substantially upright, the lifting rate for the head and foot portion of the hammock are substantially equal. Once the person is lifted, the hoisting assembly is horizontally movable in both the x and y directions so that the person may be maneuvered away from the bed and positioned in an upright sitting position over a urinal, bath or chair.
