  • Patent number: 5365467
Abstract: A musical tone signal processor is included of a computation unit, a register, a controller and an interpolator, and imparts a variable acoustic effect to a musical tone signal. The computation unit repeatedly executes a cycle of computation steps applied to the musical tone signal, using a plurality of parameters so as to realize a desired acoustic effect. The register stores values of the respective parameters which are used individually in corresponding computation steps. The controller operates when a variation is requested in the acoustic effect for designating at least one registered parameter attributive to the requested variation so as to rewrite an old value of the designated parameter to a new value.

  • Patent number: 5321198
Abstract: A tone signal generator utilizing ancillary memories for an electronic musical instrument system has a source memory storing a long and continuous waveform data and two ancillary memories each capacity of which is smaller than that of the source memory. A portion of the continuous waveform data from the source memory is written into one of the ancillary memories. After completion of the writing operation, the written waveform data is read out for tone production, and simultaneously another portion of the continuous waveform data is written into the other of said ancillary memories. The repetition of such operation make it possible to reproduce a long and continuous tone waveform in spite of the small capacity of the ancillary memories.

  • Patent number: 5239123
Abstract: An electronic musical instrument capable of generating a musical tone sounded from a string instrument played with bow provides a memory and a bowing control for inputting bowing operation information indicative of a bowing direction, i.e., up-bow and down-bow. The memory pre-stores musical tone waveform data representative of musical tone waveforms generated by playing the string instrument with bow. Then, by reading out the musical tone waveform data by the speed corresponding to pitch information, a musical tone signal corresponding to the read musical tone waveform data is to be generated. Based on the bowing direction, the tone color of the musical tone signal is to be controlled.

  • Patent number: 5173567
Abstract: A musical tone generating apparatus is provided for an electronic musical instrument. The apparatus comprises a musical tone signal generating device and a parameter controller. The musical tone signal generating device generates a musical tone signal characterized by a tone parameter whose value is supplied from the parameter controller. The parameter controller comprises a target value generator and an interpolation device, which operate independently. The target value generator generates a target value of the tone parameter to the interpolation device, and the interpolation device interpolates between a present value of the tone parameter and the target value, so that the present value is renewed consecutively.

  • Patent number: 5123323
Abstract: A detector unit is provided which receives envelope signals related to a predetermined number N of channels to detect a channel showing a greatest or smallest level of the envelope signal among the N channels and outputs data indicative of the detected channel and the level of its envelope signal. When the total number M of the channels is larger than N, a plurality of the detector units are provided, the envelope signals of the number M of the channels are divided into groups numbering not more than N, and the groups are distributed to the respective detector units so that the channel of which level of the envelope signal is the greatest or smallest is detected in each of the detector units. The levels of the envelope signals of the channels detected by the respective detector units are compared with each other, and one detector unit connected with the channel of the greatest or smallest level of the envelope signal is identified.

  • Patent number: 4907484
Abstract: At least two sets of filter coefficients corresponding to different filter characteristics are interpolated by using a control signal for controlling tone color as a parameter of interpolation. Filter coefficients obtained by the interpolation are supplied to a digital filter to determine its filter characteristics and an input tone signal is modified in accordance with the filter characteristics thus determined. Filter characteristics of diverse variation as compared with the number of prepared filter coefficients can thereby be realized. Further, timewise change of filter characteristics can be realized by changing a parameter of interpolation with lapse of time or changing two sets of filter coefficients to be interpolated with lapse of time. Designation of filter coefficients can be made by designating coordinate data of coordinates having at least two axes.
