Abstract: In a portable video system for recording motion pictures by using a video camera and a video recorder, the cable cord connecting said video camera with the video recorder is made detachable, and the cable cord connection terminal on the bottom panel of the housing of the video camera and the cable cord connection terminal on the upper panel of the housing of the video recorder are constructed to be directly connectable to each other so that said camera may be fixedly mounted on said recorder. A grip is arranged on one of the side panels of said camera housing to be usable in any of the cases where the camera is in isolation and where the recorder is directly connected to the camera, and the recorder is provided with a tripod screw hole for enabling attachment of a tripod thereto at the bottom panel of the housing thereof.

The lens of the camera is covered with the reproducing adapter when the adapter is mounted on the unitary body type camera. The reproducing adapter is connected to the camera for converting the recorded image signal into a signal reproducible on a TV receiver.

A cover opens and closes the chamber. A recording system records sound signals on the film. A setting arrangement engages the recorder system and the film with each other so as to record signals. The setting arrangement is movable into a first position where the film engages the recorder and a second position where the film is disengaged from the recorder so as to be incapable of recording sound signals. A transport device is coupled to the setting arrangement in the first position when the recorder is in the first position. An interconnecting system responds to closure of the cover for moving the setting arrangement from the second position to the first position so that the camera can be set for sound signal recording in response to the closing of the cover.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a motion picture camera which includes an openable cover for loading a film magazine containing a film capable of recording sound information. A sound recording device for recording the sound information on the film and a movable device for moving either the sound recording device or the film to a position at which the sound can be recorded is also included. An operation device for operating the opening and the closing of the openable cover can be displaced to three positions, i.e. the first, the second and the third position. The operation is carried out stepwise so that, at the first position, the movable device operates while the openable cover is locked; at the second position, the movable device does not operate while the openable cover is locked; and at the third position, the movable device does not operate while the openable cover is freed. At least one of the three position being non-linear with respect to the other two.
