  • Patent number: 4477636
Abstract: A hot-melt adhesive comprising a self-curing unsaturated polyester resin having an air-drying functional group and an average polymerization degree of 8 or more has been found to have an excellent heat resistance and a high bonding strength when it is bonding-cured under heat and pressure. If an additive selected from a polymerization initiator, a polymerization promotor and a photosensitizer is incorporated into the present air-drying, self-curing polyester resin, the curing speed is extremely increased to such an extent as cannot be expected from the conventional curing type adhesives. The incorporation of such an additive into the self-curing unsaturated polyester resin is advantageously realized in the form of composite structures of various forms, e.g., a laminate form, a core-in-sheath form and an islands-in-sea form. Such a composite hot-melt adhesive structure is useful for improving a pot life.

  • Patent number: 4417871
Abstract: An apparatus is disclosed for cooling the skid pipes of a continuous slab reheating furnace by the circulation of pressurized hot water, not cold water or steam, through the skid pipes where the hot water is heated to even higher temperatures. The heated hot water is relatively cooled by passage through a heat exchanger, after which the relatively cooler hot water is recirculated to the skid pipes. Means are provided for keeping the hot water under a pressure sufficient to maintain the hot water in a liquid state and prevent its evaporation into steam, as the hot water circulates through the apparatus, especially the skid pipes of the furnace.

  • Patent number: 4189420
Abstract: A polyolefin resin composition obtained by mixing a polyolefin resin with minor proportion of a polybutene of low molecular weight, a mixed glyceride containing a lower acyl group and a higher acyl group, and preferably a surface wetting agent, is used to form a polyolefin film, which is thereafter aged. The thus formed film exhibits very excellent adhesion strength as well as very good transparency and physical strength, and is therefore suitable for use as a food packaging film.
