Patent number: 5104359Abstract: A tensioner for vehicle belts produces reduced rattling because radial forces are not transferred to the plunger. A tensioner body has a columnar hole extending from an open end toward a closed end. The plunger is fitted into the columnar hole and separates the columnar hole into first and second chambers. The plunger has sufficient clearance with respect to the body to permit restricted passage of fluid between the chambers. A rod pressed by the belt extends into the columnar hole and presses the plunger against the biasing force of a spring. In order to reduce the transfer of radial forces from the rod to the plunger, either the lower surface of the rod or the upper surface of the plunger is formed in a semi-spherical shape.Type: GrantFiled: September 17, 1990Date of Patent: April 14, 1992Assignee: Aisin Seiki Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Eiji Shirai, Yoshio Okabe, Yukimori Kobayashi

Patent number: 4925436Abstract: For preventing very small amplitude vibrations of the rod in a tensioner during high speed movement of a belt to be tensioned by the tensioner, a tube which is connected to a plunger which moves together with the rod is overlapped with a stationary member so as to define an annular clearance therebetween in an operating chamber of the tensioner. By filling an operating fluid in the clearance, shear strain is generated upon high speed movement of the plunger, which resists movement of the plunger.Type: GrantFiled: September 30, 1988Date of Patent: May 15, 1990Assignee: Aisin Seiki Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Masaharu Hayashi, Hisashi Kodama, Yoshio Okabe, Yukimori Kobayashi, Eiji Shirai

Patent number: 4695268Abstract: An automatic tensioner for adjusting the tension in a timing belt, V belt, or the like has a locking mechanism. The tensioner has a plunger always biased toward a large oil chamber containing oil. A rod having a head that is pressed against the timing belt or the like is inserted in the body of the tensioner so as to form a small oil chamber. A piston is received in the body of the tensioner. Normally, the piston bears against the plunger. If oil should leak from the large oil chamber, then the plunger will move downward, permitting the piston to engage the rod. Thus, the rod is locked.Type: GrantFiled: October 29, 1986Date of Patent: September 22, 1987Assignee: Aisin Seiki Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Hisashi Kodama, Yoshio Okabe

Patent number: 4634829Abstract: A spot welding control method is disclosed wherein the welding current and welding time are controlled, in response to changes in the shape of the point of the electrode tip. At each weld point, the lowest value of the varying resistance between the electrode tips is detected in an initial welding period, and each detected lowest value is successively held and stored. At each weld point, a running average of the lowest resistance values is computed, bases on the resistance date of a group of weld points composed of the weld point just completed through a number of preceding weld points, the number of which is preset. The weld conditions are changed from one set of predetermined parameters to another when the computed average reaches the then prevailing threshold limit, following which the threshold is reset. The thresholds are preset depending upon the degree of wear of the electrode tip, whereby welding is continued under newly-selected weld conditions corresponding to the present threshold.Type: GrantFiled: September 20, 1985Date of Patent: January 6, 1987Assignee: Dengensha Manufacturing Company LimitedInventors: Yoshio Okabe, Masato Furudate
