  • Patent number: 5317334
Abstract: A method for driving a plasma display panel is provided, in which one field time is divided into a plurality of sub-field times having different light emitting times from each other. At least one sub-field time is longer than others to have a light emitting time longer than the other sub-field times. In each sub-field time, a state is selected from a light emission state and a non-light emission state to provide a predetermined gradation of an image to be displayed without decreasing light efficiency.

  • Patent number: 5198629
Abstract: A horn switch for a steering wheel having an air bag device. The steering wheel includes a multilayer membrane switch as the horn switch in which spacers in one layer are not aligned with the spacers in the other layers. Accordingly, even when the membrane switch is depressed just over one of the spacers in one layer, the electrode plates in the other layers can make contact with each other. Thus the operable area of the membrane switch is enlarged. Further, the membrane switch is supported on its lower surface by a number of ribs which define a number of spaces between the pad lower surface and air bag device. As a result of this space, the operation on the membrane switch can be made resilient in spite of the provision of the air bag device directly under the steering wheel pad. Further, because each part of the pad separated by the air bag device upon impact, each part must be provided with a membrane switch.

  • Patent number: 5182489
Abstract: A plasma display panel of the surface discharge type in which a maintaining discharge is generated between electrodes formed on the same substrate, includes first and second insulating substrates separated from each other to form a discharge space therebetween. A spacer having a partition wall in the form of a grid is located between the first and second insulating substrates so as to partition the discharge space into a number of pixels. Electrodes for maintaining discharge are provided on the first insulating substrate, and phosphor is located on the second insulating substrate within each of the pixels. Abstract: A plasma display includes discharge gas spaces, first and second insulating substrates, stripe row electrodes, an insulating layer, a protective layer, stripe column electrodes, another insulating layer, phosphors, and ribs. The discharge gas spaces constitute a plurality of pixels. The first and second insulating substrates are arranged parallel to each other so as to sandwich the discharge gas spaces. The row electrodes are arranged on a surface of the first insulating substrate which opposes the discharge gas spaces. The first insluating layer is stacked on the stripe row electrodes. The protective layer is stacked on the insulating layer. The column electrodes are arranged on a surface of the second insulating substrate, which opposes the discharge gas spaces, in a direction perpendicular to the row electrodes. • Patent number: 5155414
Abstract: This invention concerns the driving method of AC-driven plasma display panels of dot matrix display type and is characterized in that scanning pulses of n number (n.gtoreq.2, an integer) are individually and separately applied to scanning electrodes during one period of sustain pulses applied to data or common electrodes. It is further characterized in that pixels which have been lit up with the scanning pulses of n number are simultaneously erased with erase pulses of n number.
