    Abstract: Disclosed are electro-plated steel sheets having a primer coating composed of 5 to 30% by weight of Cr, 0.005 to 5% by weight of cation polymer, with the balance being Zn, with or without a further Zn or Zn-alloy coating formed on the primer coating. The primer coating may contain fine particles of oxides and/or iron-group metals, and may further be applied with a chromate film and/or an organic coating. Also disclosed is the process for producing an electro-plated steel sheet having excellent corrosion resistance and surface brightness, comprising performing electro-plating in an acidic Zn plating bath containing Cr ions and cation polymer, with the ratioof Cr.sup.6+ ions/Cr.sup.3+ ions being not more than 0.1.

    Abstract: A chromating liquid for forming a chromate film on a Zn or Zn-alloy plated steel sheet, is prepared by adding and mixing a silane coupling agent in a molar ratio of from 0.05 to 0.3 relative to Cr.sup.6+ contained in an aqueous chromating liquid which contains 1-30 g/l of Cr.sup.6+ and 1-30 g/l of Cr.sup.3+ at a weight ratio of Cr.sup.6+ /Cr.sup.3+ ranging from 0.1 to 2.0; and further contains 1-59 g/l of hydrofluoric acid and 1-59 g/l of phosphoric acid at total of hydrofluoric acid and phosphoric acid ranging from 2 to 60 g/l and at a weight ratio of (fluoride ions+phosphate ions)/Cr.sup.3+ ranging from 0.5 to 3.5. and, further said chromating liquid is applied on a surface of the zinc-based plated steel sheet and is then dried, thereby forming the chromate film having a coating amount of from 10 to 150 mg/m.sup.2 in terms of the chromium.

    Abstract: Disclosed is a Zn-Ni based composite plated steel sheet excellent in corrosion resistance and workability which comprises a ferrous substrate and, provided thereon, a Zn-Ni based composite electroplating layer comprising 1-15% by weight of Ni, 0.1-10% by weight of Cr, 0.1-10% by weight of SiO.sub.2, 0.01-3% by weight of Fe and the balance being essentially Zn. This steel sheet may further have a Zn or Zn based alloy electroplating upper layer to further improve corrosion resistance after coating. Furthermore, in order to remarkably improve corrosion resistance, the steel sheet may further have a hardly soluble chromate film layer of 10-150 mg/m.sup.2 in total Cr content and an epoxy resin thin film layer containing agglomerated SiO.sub.2 provided on said chromate film layer.This is a continuation-in-part of pending U.S. patent application Ser. No. 07/272,846 filed Nov. 18, 1988 and entitled "Zn--Ni BASED COMPOSITE ELECTROPLATED STEEL SHEET", disclosure of which is incorporated herein be reference.

    Abstract: A Zn-Al hot-dip galvanized coating on a steel sheet may exhibit intergranular corrosion and be degraded due to the Al's secular enrichment in the grain boundaries of coating. This is prevented in accordance with the present invention by the galvanizing bath composition which contains from 0.15 to 10% of Al, from 0.1 to 1% of Sb, from 0.01 to 2% of Si, and the balance being Zn and unavoidable impurities such as Pb, Sn, and Cd in an amount less than 0.02%, and additionally contains at least from 0.01 to 1% of at least one member selected from the group consisting of Mg and mischmetal.

    Abstract: A shift control system of an automatic transmission, wherein first and second transmission sections capable of automatically switching gear stages independently are provided and the first and second transmission sections are shifted to thereby achieve multi-stage shifts, comprising: a device for starting a shift in the second transmission section after the start of a shift in said first transmission section; and a device for ending the shifts in the first and the second transmission sections in synchronism with each other. Even when the first and the second transmission sections are simultaneously shifted, satisfactory shift characteristics are maintained, and further, the suceeding shift control in the second transmission section is adaptively controlled in accordance with the result of the preceding shift, so that the best shift can be achieved regardless of variations in the respective transmission sections.
