A removal volume (V) of the material to be removed is obtained based on the dimension (d) and the removal surface area (S). Machining conditions are set, and a removal volume rate (Vm) corresponding to the set machining conditions is obtained. Machining time (T) is determined based on the removal volume (V) and removal volume rate (Vm). The electric discharge machining is completed when the machining time (T) has elapsed from the start of electric discharge machining.
