Abstract: A jig driving apparatus for moving a jig plate and workpiece mounted thereon relative to a jig body. The jig driving apparatus comprises a driven shaft rotatably mounted in the center of the jig body and underneath the jig plate and a converter for converting rotation of said driven shaft into motion of the jig plate relative to the jig body.

Abstract: A transfer machine for transporting a work piece from one work station to another. The transfer machine comprises in combination a mounting table reciprocally movable in the transfer direction, a plurality of mounting blocks on the mounting table at the same interval as that of the working station, a cam operated chuck mounted traversely to the transfer direction on each mounting block, a cam shaft mounted in parallel with the working stations and carrying a plurality of cam plates, and a plurality of cam levers cooperating with the cam plates. When the cam shaft is rotated, the cam levers open and close the chucks, traversely move the chucks back and forth, elevate and lower the mounting table, and displace the work piece in the transfer direction.

Abstract: A work-holding apparatus comprising a support member, a first member rotatably coupled at one end to said support member, a second member rotatably coupled to the other end of said first member, a work piece holding member, and a plurality of restoring means. A restoring means is interposed between each of said members such that when said work-holding apparatus is displaced from some predetermined position by an external force, the apparatus returns to the same predetermined position upon removal of said force.

Abstract: A contour grinder having a grinding wheel that forms a workpiece into a desired contour by directly controlling the movement of the grinding wheel with a motor operated by numerical control. The grinding wheel has an arched shaped surface on the periphery thereof. The grinder also includes a vertical shaft about which the grinding wheel is rotatable and a support arm which carries a horizontal shaft to which the grinding wheel is fixed. The support arm is rotatably connected to a portion of the vertical shaft and connects the horizontal shaft at a right angle thereto so that the center of the arched surface on the periphery of the grinding wheel is aligned with the center of the vertical shaft. The vertical shaft is rotatable about its axis and movable longitudinally and laterally and the grinding wheel is movable with the vertical shaft.
