  • Patent number: 7781413
Abstract: The present invention identifies the semaphorin polypeptide SEMA3B as a tumor suppressor. This molecule can inhibit tumor growth and induce apoptosis of tumor cells when produced internally in a cancer cell via gene transfer, or when applied extracellularly. These observations permit new methods for treatment and diagnosis of cancer.

  • Patent number: 7517507
Abstract: The steam reformer has a double-cylinder structure having an inner cylinder and an outer cylinder surrounding the inner cylinder. The inner cylinder contains a high-temperature reaction section and an adjacent section being adjacent to the high-temperature reaction section. The high-temperature reaction section contains a mixed-catalyst bed prepared by mixing a steam reforming catalyst and an oxidation catalyst, and an oxygen-containing gas introduction section. A heat transfer suppresser is structured to suppress heat transfer from the high-temperature reaction section to the adjacent section or to the oxygen-containing gas introduction section. With the heat-transfer suppressor, the thermal diffusion from the high-temperature reaction section to peripheral area is effectively suppressed.

  • Patent number: 7503946
Abstract: The system is a self-oxidation internal heating steam reforming system for conducting self-oxidation of a raw material gas under the presence of oxygen and conducting steam reforming to generate a hydrogen-rich reformed gas. The system includes a steam generator including a combustion section for combusting an air-fuel mixture obtained by mixing a combustion air with a fuel, thereby heating water using a combustion gas generated in the combustion section to generate hydrogen; a first sucking-mixer for sucking the raw material gas into a steam stream coming from the steam generator to obtain a raw material-steam mixture; and a reformer for oxidizing the raw material gas in the raw material-steam mixture by an oxygen-containing gas supplied from outside, thereby conducting steam reforming of the raw material gas using the reaction heat of the oxidation to generate a hydrogen-rich reformed gas.

  • Patent number: 6288195
Abstract: An organopolysiloxane gum is prepared by polymerizing a cyclic organopolysiloxane with a low molecular weight linear organopolysiloxane end-blocked with a triorganosilyl group in the presence of a thermally decomposable catalyst. After the polymerization reaction, the catalyst is deactivated by heating the reaction product under a subatmospheric pressure of typically up to 500 mmHg.

  • Patent number: 6214962
Abstract: An organopolysiloxane gum is continuously prepared by (I) mixing at least one cyclopolysiloxane with an end capping agent, (II) feeding the mixture to a self-cleaning reactor along with a polymerization catalyst of thermal decomposition type, and effecting polymerization at a temperature of 80-130° C., (III) heating the reaction mixture of step (II) at a temperature of 130-200° C. under subatmospheric pressure for deactivating the catalyst, thereby terminating the polymerization reaction, and (IV) continuously removing the cyclopolysiloxane and volatile components from the reaction product.

  • Patent number: 5855860
Abstract: Crude fumed silica resulting from pyrogenic hydrolysis is purified by continuously feeding particulate silica and steam or a mixture of steam and air in a steam/air volume ratio of at least 1/2 through an upright column from its bottom toward its top for forming a fluidized bed within the column at a gas linear velocity of 1 to 10 cm/sec. and a temperature of 250.degree. to 400.degree. C., whereby steam deprives the particulate silica of the halide borne thereon, and removing fine particulate silica from which the halide has been eliminated from the top of the column. Using a simple apparatus, pure fine particulate silica is collected at a low cost of energy consumption.

  • Patent number: 4393420
Abstract: A tape run speed-changing circuit which comprises a motor driven at a speed conforming to any tape run speed for the recording or playback mode and also at a speed matching any tape run speed for the cue or review mode, a first tape run speed-changing device for specifying any tape run speed for the cue or review mode, and a second tape run speed-changing device which selects any tape run speed for the recording or playback mode and whose operation mode is changed over interlockingly with that of the first tape run speed-changing device. When the second tape run speed-changing means device specifies a first tape run speed for the recording or playback mode, then the first tape run speed-changing means device selects a first tape run speed for the cue or review mode; and when the second tape run speed-changing device specifies a second tape run speed for the recording or playback mode, then the first tape run speed-changing device selects a second tape run speed for the cue or review mode.

  • Patent number: 4370549
Abstract: An electronic counter circuit counts pulse signals generated according to the rotation of a takeup shaft of a tape recorder to display a value corresponding to a run of a tape. In the electronic counter circuit, a power supply voltage is supplied to a counter through a voltage stabilizing circuit and a switching circuit is connected between the voltage stabilizing circuit and a power supply for electrically interrupting power to the voltage stabilizing circuit a predetermined time after a motor is electrically interrupted to cause the rotation of the takeup shaft to be stopped.

  • Patent number: 4351009
Abstract: An apparatus for moving the pinch roller and the magnetic head of a tape recorder into their operative positions comprises a small size motor which supplies a drive to a pair of drive and driven members such as the combination of a pinion and a rack. The drive is transmitted via the pair of members to a movable member which carries the pinch roller and magnetic head, thus moving the pinch roller and the magnetic head to their operative positions.

  • Patent number: 4097726
Abstract: A tape ending indicator comprises a flip-flop circuit responsive to a pulse signal derived from a rotating tape for producing a pulse of an increased width, which is applied to one input of an AND circuit which also receives count pulses of a given, constant frequency from a suitable source. The number of count pulses which are contained in the output signal from the AND circuit is counted in order to detect a change of the count above a first value or below a second value as the diameter of the roll of the taken up tape increases or decreases, thereby indicating the ending of the tape.
