Patent number: 9593651Abstract: A fuel-filter malfunction detection device detects a clogging of a fuel filter when specified conditions are satisfied. In a clogging detection, a command discharge quantity to a high-pressure pump is increased more than a total of a fuel injection quantity and a leakage of the fuel supply system while a pressure-reducing valve is closed. When the fuel filter is clogged, a discharge quantity of the high-pressure pump is decreased relative to the command discharge quantity and a differential pressure is generated between an estimated common-rail pressure and an actual common-rail pressure. When an integrated moving average of the averages of the differential pressure is greater than or equal to a specified value, an ECU determines that the fuel filter has a malfunction. Then, a malfunction flag is turned ON.Type: GrantFiled: January 6, 2015Date of Patent: March 14, 2017Assignee: DENSO CORPORATIONInventors: Hirofumi Take, Yoshio Toyoshima

Patent number: 8800355Abstract: When change of fuel pressure sensed with a fuel pressure sensor is small, it is temporarily determined that the fuel pressure sensor is abnormal. After the abnormality is temporarily determined, transfer quantity from a high-pressure fuel supply pump is increased and pressure reduction is performed by driving a pressure reducing valve, thereby increasing the change of the fuel pressure of a common rail. When the change of the fuel pressure sensed with the fuel pressure sensor is small thereafter, it is formally determined that the fuel pressure sensor is abnormal. Thus, a pressure accumulation fuel injection device can appropriately perform abnormality detection of the fuel pressure sensor, irrespective of existence/nonexistence of fuel leak from an injector.Type: GrantFiled: December 17, 2009Date of Patent: August 12, 2014Assignee: Denso CorporationInventor: Yoshio Toyoshima

Patent number: 7520267Abstract: According to the present invention, a fuel injection apparatus includes a high-pressure passage, a low-pressure passage, an actuator, a first and a second piston, a displacement amplifying chamber, a fuel injection mechanism, and a fuel supplier. The high-pressure passage is configured to be filled with high-pressure fuel. The low-pressure passage is configured to be filled with low-pressure fuel. The first piston is configured to be displaced by the actuator. The displacement amplifying chamber communicates with the low-pressure passage and works to amplify and transmit to the second piston a displacement of the first piston by means of the low-pressure fuel therein. The fuel injection mechanism is configured to inject the high-pressure fuel into a cylinder of an internal combustion engine in response to the displacement of the second piston. The fuel supplier works to supply the high-pressure fuel from the high-pressure passage through pressure reduction directly to the low-pressure passage.Type: GrantFiled: October 12, 2006Date of Patent: April 21, 2009Assignee: Denso CorporationInventor: Yoshio Toyoshima

Patent number: 7210442Abstract: An engine control system includes an ignition switch, a starter switch which operates a starter of an engine after the ignition switch has been turned on, and a voltage increasing circuit which increases a battery voltage to a higher voltage. The engine control system controls the voltage increasing circuit to start to increase a voltage from a battery to the higher voltage upon a timing of turning on the starter switch. Thus, radio noises caused by an operation of the voltage increasing circuit may be avoided from time at which the ignition switch is turned on to time at which the starter switch is turned on (during a quiet time period).Type: GrantFiled: October 24, 2005Date of Patent: May 1, 2007Assignee: DENSO CorporationInventor: Yoshio Toyoshima

Patent number: 6185403Abstract: A sheet conveying device including a pair of rollers to convey a sheet impinged against a nip portion of the pair of rollers. Also included is a driving device which drives the pair of rollers to rotate in either a forward direction or a reverse direction, a sheet detecting device which detects the sheet inserted into the nip portion, and a controller which controls the pair of rollers to rotate in the forward direction after rotating the pair of rollers in the reverse direction by a predetermined amount of rotation, when the sheet is inserted into the nip portion of the pair of rollers.Type: GrantFiled: July 7, 1999Date of Patent: February 6, 2001Assignee: Ricoh Company, Ltd.Inventors: Yoshio Toyoshima, Takeshi Iwasaki, Minoru Nagasawa

Patent number: 5579099Abstract: A document conveying device for conveying a document in a reciprocating motion, and a document reading device for reading the image of the document by illuminating it from one edge thereof. The document is turned over and conveyed back and forth to an illuminating position and a position below a document table. A document receiving section for receiving and storing the document after it has been read the desired number of times is provided intermediate the document table and the illuminating position of the document reading device. This allows, in a reciprocation system, a document to be laid on the table face up and allows the next document to be laid on the table beforehand.Type: GrantFiled: January 26, 1995Date of Patent: November 26, 1996Assignee: Ricoh Company, Ltd.Inventors: Kouji Nishiyama, Yoshio Toyoshima
