  • Patent number: 5233151
Abstract: Parts are fed at an optimum speed to a device installed at the end of a feed passage. The invention is characterized in that the basic arrangement comprises a device for once stopping a part, the device being disposed at a position separated a required distance from the parts holding device, and in that a movable shield member is installed at the side to which parts and the feed rod are advanced. Further, the arrangement is applicable to a stud welding apparatus.

  • Patent number: 5230141
Abstract: A device for feeding apertured parts by inserting a guide rod for a feed rod into the aperture of a part in the temporarily secured state. This device is characterized in that the feed rod has a flat cross-section and the amount of removal of its material on one side thereof is greater than on the other side, and in that a part locking section is provided on the ceiling of the temporarily securing chamber on the side where the amount of removal is greater. Further, a guide member is provided which extends parallel with the guide rod for preventing rotation of parts. The length of the guide rod is less than that of the guide member to provide a rolling space for parts.

  • Patent number: 5226228
Abstract: A part feeding apparatus is adapted to hold a part (10) on a holding portion (12) at the front end of a feed rod (11) and feed it to an intended place. A locking portion (14) at the end of a feed tube (7) is disposed in opposed relation to the holding portion (12). The apparatus includes an operating rod (20) adapted to move into the locking portion (14) to transfer a part (10) from the locking portion (14) to the holding portion (12), and the part once positioned at the locking portion (14) is moved to the holding portion (12). Further, a magnet (23) for attracting the part is retractably installed adjacent the holding portion (12) at the front end of the feed rod (11).

  • Patent number: 5220148
Abstract: An electrode for a projection welding machine having a parts receiving hole is characterized in that a heat insulating element of magnetic material extending to the inlet side of the receiving hole is connected to a magnet disposed in the receiving hole and that the magnet itself is positioned adjacent a cooling hole.

  • Patent number: 5191691
Abstract: An apparatus for feeding slender parts has a feed rod adapted to magnetically hold a slender part on its front end, and a projecting piece formed on the front end of the feed rod for supporting the part from below. In the case of a headed slender part such as a projection bolt, the projecting piece includes a stopper portion for receiving the head and a support portion for supporting the stem portion of the part. When the feed rod is extended until it reaches a predetermined position, the effect of the magnetic force on the part is forcibly nullified, with the result that the part, while rotatively rising, falls under its own weight to fit in a bolt hole or the like in a mating member positioned below.

  • Patent number: 5074742
Abstract: A method and apparatus are described for conveying and supplying a part, such as a projection nut, to a predetermined point in space. The apparatus comprises a telescopic supply rod including an outer and inner shaft, two magnets being associated with a proximal end of one of the two shafts. The supply rod first extends in its entirety towards the predetermined point, or destination, with the part being attracted and held at the proximal end by the magnets. Relative displacement in longitudinal direction of the outer and inner shafts takes place as the part reaches the destination and, consequently, the magnets are moved away from the part so that magnetic force on the part is no more influential, whereupon the part is allowed to fall under gravity down to the destination.

  • Patent number: 5067763
Abstract: A parts supplying apparatus for carrying and supplying a part such as a projection nut to a predetermined point in space comprises a telescopic supply rod including an outer and inner shaft, and a magnet being fixed to a proximal end of one of the two shafts. The supply rod first extends in its entirety towards the predetermined point, or destination, with the part attracted and held at the proximal end by way of the magnet. When the part reaches slightly short of its destination, relative displacement in longitudinal direction of the outer and inner shafts takes place so that the magnet is moved away from the part until its magnetic force on the part is no more influential, whereupon the part is allowed to fall under gravity down to the destination accurately.

  • Patent number: 5044519
Abstract: A feeding device for feeding slender parts such as bolts or other fasteners to a predetermined work station includes a feed rod having one end adapted for magnetically holding a slender part. The feed rod is mounted for reciprocating movement between a retracted position spaced from the work station and a second position adjacent the work station. A feed tube is disposed at an acute angle relative to the path of movement of the feed rod with an open lower end adjacent the holding end of the feed rod in the retracted position. Slender parts are supplied to an upper part of the feed tube to fall freely through the feed tube and are delivered to the end of the feed rod where they are magnetically held and moved to the work station.
