  • Patent number: 6023044
Abstract: In a multi-layer welding, weld line and a gap width of workpieces (A, B) to be welded are detected by a laser sensor mounted on a robot, during a welding for a first layer, whereby, a welding torch mounted on the robot is made to follow the weld line and welding conditions are adjusted in accordance with the detected gap width. The detected gap width is stored in the storage means together with the weld line data. Then, weldings for a second and subsequent layers are performed by using the stored data in such a manner that the welding torch is made to follow the weld line, and the welding conditions are adjusted in accordance with the gap width.

  • Patent number: 5812697
Abstract: A method of recognizing handwritten characters. A recognition dictionary is prepared including a plurality of characters and corresponding character clusters. A weighting dictionary is prepared including weighting clusters and corresponding object characters. All segmentation position candidates are selected by segmenting handwritten character ink data. Each of the position candidates is separated in a direction corresponding to a direction in which the handwritten character ink data is inputted from a leading position of the ink data and satisfying a predetermined condition. A character candidate is selected corresponding to each segment of the ink data segmented at the segmentation position candidates by referring to the recognition dictionary and calculating a distance value between each of the segments of the ink data and a selected one of the character clusters.

  • Patent number: 5624588
Abstract: A robot supports a welding torch for use in arc welding of a cylindrical welding object. The welding object is rotated about an axis and is controlled by a robot controller. The robot is operated to track the welding torch along a calculated welding line to continuously position the welding torch along the welding line. A reference circle is formed by rotation of one point on the welding object. A coordinate system is set with a center corresponding to the center of the reference circle. A laser sensor detects a point on the welding line, and the detected point is stored by using a distance r from a center O of the work coordinate system and a z-coordinate value z. As the cylindrical welding object is rotated by an angle .theta. corresponding to an interval between the position detected by the laser sensor and a calculated second position, the welding torch is moved to a position to coincide with the second position.

  • Patent number: 5608422
Abstract: An automatic contrast adjusting device which is capable of providing an optimum LCD contrast for a user's eyes as the user desires. A CPU references a characteristic table listing temperatures vs. liquid crystal drive voltages in a RAM in response to temperature data from a thermistor, reads a PWM value (liquid crystal drive voltage) corresponding to the temperature data, and outputs a PWM pulse of a duty ratio corresponding thereto. On the other hand, when the user manually adjusts the contrast by handling a contrast switch, characteristic data in the RAM is corrected in response to the adjustment amount, and is then written into an EEPROM.

  • Patent number: 5534705
Abstract: A method of controlling a robot attached to a tool. The position of the robot is corrected in real time by detecting a target position on a workpiece by a laser sensor. A laser light emitted from a laser light source of the laser sensor scans a surface of the workpiece toward a direction across an operating line. An initial scanning forms a locus of laser irradiation points and crossing points which intersect the locus with the operating line on the workpiece. Angle .alpha. is defined to be an angle formed between an axis of the tool and the locus on the surface of the workpiece. Angle .beta. is defined to be an angle formed between the operating line (point series line connecting the crossing points obtained by a current and past scanning) and the center axis of the tool. Further, angle .gamma. is defined to be a rotation angle around an axis of the tool on the basis of the operating line. An attitude of the robot is determined by the angles .alpha., .beta. and .gamma..

  • Patent number: 5504766
Abstract: A controller for a laser beam oscillator capable of notifying an operator of a proper timing at which a discharge tube, oscillation lamp and the like must be replaced. When a part of the laser beam oscillator is replaced, a processor calculates the integrated operating time value and integrated laser beam output value of the laser beam oscillator since the replacement of the part and displays these values on a CRT. Further, the processor determines the remaining life of the part from these integrated values and when the life is near to its expiring time, an alarm display is indicated on the CRT and an alarm lamp is lit on an operation panel.

  • Patent number: 5479078
Abstract: A robot teaching position method for easily modifying an original position of one of a plurality of taught points arranged on a straight line to a modified position moved a distance along the straight line from the original position. An operator selects one of the plurality of taught points, inputs a distance of movement along the straight line from the one taught point to the modified point, and selects two arbitrary taught points arranged on the straight line, using a display device attached to a manual data input device attached to a robot controller. The modified position is determined based on the inputted first taught point, the distance, and the second and third taught points. A robot performs an operation based on the modified position.

  • Patent number: 5432387
Abstract: A switching means is provided in a power source line for supplying the A.C. power source of a main power source circuit. A lock switch is separately provided. In the normal state, the lock switch is in a locked off state, thereby controlling the on-off operation of the switching means by the automatic on-off function based on a power source operating switch and timer etc. By turning the lock switch off, the switching means is locked, thereby overriding the automatic on-off function and the power source operating switch.
