  • Publication number: 20220312614
Abstract: An electronic device may have transparent housing structures such as walls formed of glass or sapphire. Housing structures such as transparent housing structures may have a colored coating. The colored coating may include an absorptive layer and a metal layer. The coating may exhibit a color that can be adjusted by adjusting the thickness of the thin absorptive layer. A colored layer such as a layer of colored polymer may be incorporated into the colored coating to further adjust the color of the coating. The colored coating may be formed on an inner or outer housing structure surface. The surface may have a texture to provide the coating with a matte appearance. When formed on an outer surface, a diamond-like carbon layer may protect the colored coating. When formed on an inner surface, a passivation layer may be used to prevent oxidation of the metal layer.

  • Patent number: 8605422
Abstract: A thin display apparatus equipped with a video display panel controls rise in temperature of a disk drive by heat-transfer from high temperature internals of the apparatus. A thermal insulating recess is formed in a face of a rear side casing which faces a disk drive unit, and a surface of the disk drive unit mounted on the rear side casing seals the thermal insulating recess. An area of the thermal insulating recess sealed by the disk drive unit becomes a thermal insulating layer between the rear side casing and the disk drive unit, and the thermal insulating layer interrupts thermal transfer from the high temperature internals of the apparatus to the disk drive unit.

  • Patent number: 8553176
Abstract: A liquid crystal display device performs suitable overshoot drive, even if a panel temperature is changed due to a change of the backlight emission luminance. The liquid crystal display device includes: a temperature sensor which detects the temperature in the device; an emphasis conversion section, which obtains, after the elapse of one vertical display period, an emphasis conversion parameter for making the transmissivity of the liquid crystal panel reach the transmissivity specified by input image signals, and which outputs applying voltage signals for the liquid crystal panel on the basis of the emphasis conversion parameter; and a main microcomputer which corrects the panel temperature of the liquid crystal panel on the basis of the changed light emission luminance when the light emission luminance of the backlight is changed. The emphasis conversion section variably controls the emphasis conversion parameter on the basis of the panel temperature corrected via the main microcomputer.
