Patent number: 6746728Abstract: A tetrahydronaphthalene derivative represented by the general formula (I) and a liquid crystal composition containing the same. A compound represented by the general formula (I) shows superior liquid crystallinity and co-solubility with conventional liquid crystal compounds and compositions. Furthermore, addition of such a compound enables the threshold voltage to be significantly reduced with almost no deleterious effect on the responsiveness. In addition, a compound of the present invention can also be easily produced industrially, is colorless, and is chemically stable. Consequently, liquid crystal compositions containing such a compound are extremely useful as liquid crystals, and are particularly suitable for liquid crystal displays requiring a wide operating temperature range, low voltage driving and a high response speed.Type: GrantFiled: December 28, 2001Date of Patent: June 8, 2004Assignee: Dainippon Ink and Chemicals, Inc.Inventors: Tetsuo Kusumoto, Yoshitaka Saito, Makoto Negishi, Yutaka Nagashima, Sadao Takehara, Haruyoshi Takatsu, Gerwald Grahe, Rainer Bruno Frings, Cornelia Pithart

Patent number: 6560166Abstract: A time recorder with a standard time radio wave receiving function is provided and a time display manually adjusted can be used even when time data is received from a standard time radio wave. When the time recorder is set manually such that a time is not corrected based on a time data from the radio wave, a control unit does not correct the time on a displaying unit. When adjusting data is input manually and the time data receiving unit receives the time data of the radio wave, the control unit adjusts the time displayed on the displaying unit. Also, a mounting unit is attachably/detachably mounted to a time recorder main body, and a clocking unit and a time radio wave receiving unit for receiving standard time radio wave are provided in the mounting unit.Type: GrantFiled: September 21, 2000Date of Patent: May 6, 2003Assignee: Max Co., Ltd.Inventors: Yoshitaka Saito, Takashi Sahara

Patent number: 6468320Abstract: A filter unit for removing particulates in a gas to be treated, which unit includes a gas impermeable bulkhead that forms a channel through which the gas advances in the filter unit at least one round, and a filter member laminated on at least one side surface of the bulkhead without closing the channel. The filter unit or filter of the present invention reduces a load on a harm removing equipment, which in turn lowers the cleaning frequency and markedly prolongs the service life of the equipment.Type: GrantFiled: November 24, 2000Date of Patent: October 22, 2002Assignees: Toyo Boseki Kabushiki Kaisha, Taisei Giken Co., Ltd.Inventors: Tatsuaki Sumitani, Tomomi Takahashi, Masao Ieno, Yoshitaka Saito

Patent number: 6388548Abstract: It is intended to provide a non-contact transformer which simplifies attachment work, causes no sound of rubbing between wires or resistance during steering wheel manipulation, increases the transmission efficiency, and can be manufactured easily by virtue of a minimized warp occurring during manufacture of a core. A non-contact transformer is provided that includes two disc-shaped magnetic cores (19) each having at least one concentric and radial groove (21), and a magnetic sleeve (25) having a cylindrical shape or a pot shape having an opening at the center of the bottom surface. The two magnetic cores are opposed to each other with a predetermined distance left therebetween in a space enclosed by the magnetic sleeve. A wining (23) of wire is accommodated in the at least one concentric groove. Each of the magnetic cores is a combination of a plurality of fan-shaped partial cores (27) to be formed in a disc shape.Type: GrantFiled: April 27, 2000Date of Patent: May 14, 2002Assignees: Tokin Corp., Alps Electric Co., Ltd.Inventors: Yoshitaka Saito, Hideki Masudaya
