  • Patent number: 5163884
Abstract: A friction-type stepless speed change device includes a frictional transmission elements composed of a pair of driving discs connected to an input shaft, and an annular driven disc connected to an output shaft and embraced between and urged against opposite conical surfaces of the driving discs into wedge-engagement to generate frictional force and allow power transmission from the driving discs to the driven disc. The driving discs are at a variable eccentricity relative to the driven disc, with which an effective pitch diameter of the driving discs is varied to effect a stepless speed change. For reducing the size of the frictional transmission elements while preserving a required torque capacity, the device further comprises a driving rotary unit for transmitting power from the input shaft to the driving discs at an increased rotational speed, and a driven rotary unit for transmitting power from the driven disc to the output shaft at a reduced rotational speed.

  • Patent number: 4791193
Abstract: A process for producing bovine lactoferrin in high purity form raw milk-materials containing skim milk or whey originated form cow's milk which comprises: adsoption step wherein said raw materials are contacted, at a temperature between 0.degree.-60.degree. C., with weakly acidic cation-exchanger which includes carboxymethyl groups as ion exchanging groups and has haemoglobin adsorption property more than 3.5 g/100 ml; rinsing step wherein said exchanger is washed with water to remove substances other than those adsorbed to said exchanger; and desorption step wherein the substances adsorbed to said exchanger are desorbed therefrom with a solution of one or more of salts to thereby yield highly purified bovine lactoferrin without deterirating raw milk materials. Said desorption step can be carried out in a single stage to produce lactoferrin more than 80% purity to total proteins recovered, and in two stage to attain more than 98% purity.

  • Patent number: 4591027
Abstract: A band brake assembly for a bicycle includes a brake band having a brake lining and a brake drum to which the brake lining is urged by a brake operating cable in braking. According to the invention, the band brake assembly comprises a wire guide whose front half is in the form of an arc and fixed to an operative end of the brake band and whose rear half extends in a tangential direction of the brake band. An inner wire of the brake operating cable extends rearward along an outer surface of the wire guide and is fixed to a rear end of the wire guide. With this arrangement, the lining, brake band, wire guide and inner wire form a multiple or laminated connection to permit these members to shift slightly with each other when braking, thereby preventing resonance and absorbing or damping vibration caused in braking.

  • Patent number: 3995070
Abstract: A casein powder, which has excellent solubility and is capable of forming a casein micelle having similar turbidity and heat stability as the casein micelle of cow's milk, when it is dissolved in water to reconstitute cow's milk, skim milk or other dairy products, can be obtained by dissolving an organic acid salt and/or polyphosphate, in an amount as represented by the formula:log y = 0.0384x + (0.70 .+-. 0.25)whereby y is mg of organic acid salt and/or polyphosphate per gram of casein protein, and x is mg of calcium ion per gram of casein protein, in a casein solution, obtained by dissolving an acid casein in an alkali. The casein solution is then mixed with a calcium salt solution in an amount such that the quantity of calcium ion present is 20 to 40 mg per gram of casein protein at a temperature of below 50.degree. C. The pH of the resulting mixed solution is adjusted to 6.5 to 7.1, an emulsifier is added thereto, and the solution is gradually heated to a temperature of at least 65.degree.
