  • Patent number: 7804523
Abstract: In a head detachable camera comprising a camera head and an image processing unit which does not have an exclusive line for notifying the type of image sensing device used in the camera head, when the power switch is turned on, vertical interval data signal processing units of the camera head and the image processing unit are set to a predetermined communication mode, such as one conforming to the NTSC video mode. Under this situation, identification information showing the number of pixels and the video rate used in the image sensing device is transmitted from the camera head by multiplexing the identification information in a blanking period of an image signal, and the communication mode of the camera head is changed in accordance with the number of pixels and the video rate of the image sensing device, if necessary.

  • Patent number: 6965400
Abstract: A video input apparatus and image pickup system having a camera section having a camera unit, and a video processing section for processing an image signal from the camera section so as to supply to a host terminal. The camera section outputs a multiplexed signal on which synchronizing signals of an image signal are multiplexed on the image signal, to the video processing section through a cable. The video processing section separates the image signal and the synchronizing signals from the multiplexed signal and processes the image signal to output a video signal. The camera unit in the camera section is exchangeable, and the video processing section detects the type of the camera unit based on the separated synchronizing signals and processes the image signal in accordance with the detected type of the camera unit.

  • Patent number: 6962288
Abstract: An image reading apparatus prevents degradation of image quality and a delay in the image reading time which are caused by interruption of reading of image data. A speed at which a host computer reads image data from an image reading apparatus and temporarily stores it therein is examined. If the resulting speed is lower than a reference value which has been set so that an operation to avoid an overflow of a buffer RAM in the image reading apparatus may not be caused, the sub-scanning speed of the image reading apparatus is set lower, and the image is read at the lower speed.

Abstract: An image reading apparatus prevents degradation of image quality and a delay in the image reading time which are caused by interruption of reading of image data. A speed at which a host computer reads image-data from an image reading apparatus and temporarily stores it therein is examined. If the resulting speed is lower than a reference value which has been set so that an operation to avoid an overflow of a buffer RAM in the image reading apparatus may not be caused, the sub-scanning speed of the image reading apparatus is set lower, and the image is read at the lower speed.

  • Patent number: 6573931
Abstract: An information processing method and apparatus of this invention are a method and apparatus for multiplexing data indicating information other than video information on a video signal and transmitting the multiplexed data. Modulated data is formed by inputting the data and modulating the input data. The video signal and the modulated data are input, and the modulated data is multiplexed on the input video signal. When the multiplexed data is output, the modulation mode or the multiplexing interval of the modulated data is controlled in correspondence with the type of input data, thus realizing a function of multiplexing data on a video signal and transmitting the multiplexed data in correspondence with the data type with a simple, small-scale circuit arrangement.

  • Patent number: 6330027
Abstract: An image input apparatus capable of optimizing an error recovery process of data transfer between a camera unit and an image processing unit. When a communication driver of the camera unit detects a check sum error, an ACK (acknowledge) frame added with a reception error parameter is transmitted to the image processing unit. Upon reception of this ACK frame, a communication driver of the image processing unit retransmits a command frame. The communication driver of the camera unit checks the check sum of the received frame, and if there is no error, an ACK frame added with a normal reception parameter is transmitted to the image processing unit to notify an upper level control module of a command reception.

  • Patent number: 5784457
Abstract: A communication apparatus having a plurality of audio CODEC and communication method thereof. When a coding mode for transmitting audio information is set, the audio CODEC corresponding to the coding mode is selected and switched. When the coding mode of the audio information is instructed from the terminal on the transmission side, the audio CODEC on the reception-side terminal is switched according to the instruction. When these audio CODEC are switched, generation of audio noise can be suppressed by setting the mute on the audio information.

  • Patent number: 5524194
Abstract: A multi-media communication apparatus has functions of receiving/transmitting images, audio signals, code data and the like. A detection unit detects an error in an image signal received from a communication partner's terminal. A transmission unit transmits a picture renewal request command to the partner's terminal based on a detection signal from the detection unit to automatically recover a disturbance of the received image. If the received image becomes discontinuous or disturbed at time of frame synchronization error or the like, the image immediately before the occurrence of disturbance or a different image, e.g., an image for informing the operator of the apparatus condition, is displayed in place of the disturbed image. The operator can be informed of the occurrence of a communication error through the same media as those used for communication before the occurrence of the error.
