  • Patent number: 5448415
Abstract: There is disclosed a device for emitting light diverging along an imaginary plane. This device includes a light source, a collimating lens, and a cylindrical optical element which are mounted within a casing. A reflecting surface, inclined with respect to an axis of the optical element, and a cylindrical surface extending along the axis of the optical element are formed on one end portion of the optical element disposed near one end portion of the casing. That portion of the optical element including this cylindrical surface serves as a cylindrical lens portion. The beam from the collimating lens advances along the axis of the optical element, and is reflected by the reflection surface to be directed toward the cylindrical lens portion. This reflected beam is converted by the cylindrical lens portion into a beam diverging along the imaginary plane disposed generally perpendicular to the axis of the optical element, and is emitted from the casing.

  • Patent number: 4841129
Abstract: A scanning device for reading bar codes symbols comprising at least two moveable, preferably rotatably driven, reflective surfaces, such as mirrors, which direct a light source, preferably from a laser, in a scanning pattern towards the object to be scanned. At least one of said reflective surfaces having an associated lens means to modify the light beam associated with its reflective surface, and means adapted to move each of said reflective surfaces and the associated lens into a path adapted to intersect with said beam of light. Means are provided to direct the beam of light outside the scanning device as a sweep beam onto the bar code symbol to be read and optical means and sensing means are provided to collect the light reflected from the bar code symbol and generate data therefrom.

  • Patent number: 4655257
Abstract: A guide tube assembly for an industrial endoscope comprises a multiplicity of tube segments arranged to form therein a long guide bore. A hand actuator is connected to a proximal one of the tube segments. At least one pair of elongated members have their respective one ends fixedly secured to a distal one of the tube segments, and extend through communication bores formed in the remaining tube segments to the hand actuator. A resilient member is mounted on the hand actuator for resiliently pulling the elongated members to bias the tube segments so as to bring them into contact with each other.
