  • Patent number: 4978061
Abstract: An air conditioner system for automotive vehicles includes a blower control unit for adjusting discharge amount of conditioning air into the vehicular cabin depending upon the difference between the set cabin temperature and the cabin temperature, and for causing the discharge amount of fluctuate so as to increase and decrease when the difference between the temperatures is less than a predetermined value. The periods through which the discharge amount is greater than and less than predetermined values, respectively, are controlled depending upon the monitored insolation. The air conditioner system also includes an air flow direction setting unit for adjusting direction of the conditioning air discharge from a vent nozzle.

  • Patent number: 4938033
Abstract: An automatic air conditioning system for automotive vehicles including discharge outlets for discharging conditioned air comprises a plurality of louvers utilizing a number of fins, a discharge outlet actuator for controlling the fins, and a controller for determining that the environmental conditions of the vehiclular cabin are in either, a cool-down state wherein a cabin temperature in the vehicular cabin is excessively higher than a target cabin temperature, a steady state wherein the cabin temperature is essentially equal to the target cabin temperature, or a transient state between the cool-down state and the steady state. The controller controls the discharge outlet actuator so as to vary the discharge mode of the conditioned air discharged from the discharge outlets in one of three discharge modes in response to the environmental conditions.

  • Patent number: 4919328
Abstract: An air conditioning system for an automotive vehicle includes a duct through which conditioned air is directed into a compartment for passengers. A control device is associated with the duct for operating in a first mode discharging the conditioned air in the form of concentrated currents toward the passengers, in a second mode discharging the conditioned air in the form of diffused currents toward the passengers, and in a third mode in which switching is performed between the first and second modes at variable time intervals. One of the first, second and third modes is selected according to sensed values of compartment temperature and insolation intensity.

  • Patent number: 4875624
Abstract: An air conditioner system for automotive vehicles includes an air flow direction setting unit for adjusting direction of the conditioning air discharged from a vent nozzle. The air flow direction setting unit is operable between a concentrated discharge air mode in which the air flow discharged from the vent nozzle is concentrated on the occupants of the front seats, and a diffused discharge air mode in which it is directed toward the sides of the vehicular cabin. As the difference between the set cabin temperature and the cabin temperature decreases, the voltage applied to a blower motor toward a predetermined minimum value, and thereafter fluctuates regularly or irregularly.

  • Patent number: 4582252
Abstract: A casing has an inlet opening and outlet openings. A partition wall divides the interior of the casing into first and second chambers and also divides the inlet opening into two segments communicating separately with the first and second chambers. A heat exchanger extends into both of the first and second chambers. Air is supplied from the first chamber to a front area of a vehicle interior via at least one of the outlet openings. Air is normally supplied from the second chamber to a rear area of the vehicle interior via the other outlet opening.

  • Patent number: 3934912
Abstract: A system constituted of a retractable bumper coupled with a hydraulic shock absorber the shock absorption characteristic of which is governed by a pressurized gas, a weight sensor for sensing the vehicle gross weight, a pressure regulator for the pressurized gas, a carriage mechanism which supports the shock absorber and can move it in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle, and an electrical control unit for controlling both the pressure regulator and the carriage mechanism in response to the signal from the weight sensor, so that the energy absorption capacity of the system in a collision of the vehicle represented by the product of the resistance offered against a retracting movement of the bumper by the shock absorber and the distance travelled by the bumper until coming into contact with the vehicle body can be varied depending on the weight of the vehicle payload.
