Patent number: 5508761Abstract: A motion picture film is provided on which a digital sound track for audio data is formed along the film running direction. Data tracks are disposed in the digital sound track along a direction normal to the film running direction and extend in the film running direction. A data pattern having a block of audio data is recorded in the data tracks, along with tracking patterns representing each data track. Each of the tracking patterns is recorded at one side of the data track along the film running direction with an offset in the film running direction of one half the width of a data track from the center of that data track.Type: GrantFiled: December 6, 1994Date of Patent: April 16, 1996Assignees: Sony Corporation, Sony Cinema Products CorporationInventors: Etsuro Saito, Katsuichi Tachi, Kiyoshi Inatome, Hideki Ando, Tetsuro Makise, Yoshiyuki Suzuki

Patent number: 5485288Abstract: An image processing apparatus for converting color images into monochromatic pattern images. The image processing apparatus includes: means for detecting the area of a color image; means for converting a color image into a monochromatic pattern image; and control means for varying such image processing in accordance with the result of detection made by the means for detecting the area. When a thin line is detected in a color area, the method of processing is determined based on the width of the detected thin line. For example, when the width of the thin line is smaller than a predetermined value, the area of such thin line may be outputted as a plain image instead of a pattern image so that it may easily be seen or recognized. The contour of a color area may be made conspicuous by combining a plain image and a pattern image.Type: GrantFiled: February 28, 1992Date of Patent: January 16, 1996Assignee: Canon Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Masafumi Kamei, Yoshiyuki Suzuki, Shizuo Hasegawa, Hiroyuki Ichikawa, Yoshihiro Funamizu, Akio Itoh, Yoshinori Abe

Patent number: 5393992Abstract: A lower gate type semiconductor device, in which, for increasing an on-current of a lower gate type thin film transistor and restricting an off-current, there is provided a gate-controlled offset region different from a channel region in one or both conductivity types. This region increases the on-current of the transistor, provides a reduction of a leakage current, and restriction of a subthreshold coefficient. A two-dimensional size can also be reduced by altering the gate height. The on-current is increased, and the leakage current is reduced in the device. The offset region is composed of a semiconductor material and is formed at the end of a drain region of the device.Type: GrantFiled: December 28, 1992Date of Patent: February 28, 1995Assignee: NEC CorporationInventor: Yoshiyuki Suzuki

Patent number: 5065446Abstract: An image data coding apparatus adopting the method of this invention includes a divider section for dividing an image having gray levels into a plurality of blocks, each consisting of a plurality of pixels; a pre-processing section for detecting the density and the presence/absence of an edge in an image of each divided block; and a vector quantizing section for encoding an image of each block in accordance with the detected density and the presence/absence of the edge in the image of the block. The pre-processing section detects a standard deviation of density levels of the pixels included in each block. The vector quantizing section divides the density levels of the pixels included in each block into a plurality of level sections so as to obtain a code indicating the level section in which the density level of each pixel is included. In the vector quantizing section, the obtained code is again encoded by means of vector quantization.Type: GrantFiled: June 2, 1988Date of Patent: November 12, 1991Assignee: Canon Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Yoshiyuki Suzuki, Masahiro Funada, Mamoru Sato, Yukio Sato
