  • Patent number: 7280886
Abstract: A sewing machine capable of embroidering includes a sewing mechanism having a sewing needle, a frame moving mechanism that moves an embroidery frame based on embroidery data composed of a plurality of embroidery pattern sections, a thread trimming mechanism that executes a thread trim operation based on a thread trim instruction, a thread wiping mechanism that executes a thread wiping operation after the execution of the thread trim operation by the thread trimming mechanism, and a controlling unit that moves the embroidery frame by the frame moving mechanism to a sewing start position of the next embroidery pattern section based on the embroidery data after the thread trim operation by the thread trimming mechanism and before the execution of the thread wiping operation by the thread wiping mechanism.

  • Patent number: 7178473
Abstract: A sewing machine includes a needle bar reciprocally movable up and down, a thread take-up lever reciprocally swingable up and down, a thread supply which supplies a needle thread to the needle bar carrying the sewing needle, a plurality of thread guides including the thread take-up lever, an automatic threading apparatus automatically carrying the needle thread extending from the thread supply and passing the needle thread through the thread guides including the thread take-up lever, a first preparatory path formed for threading so that the needle thread extending from the thread supply can be passed through the thread guides by the automatic threading apparatus, and a second preparatory path formed for threading so that the needle thread extending from the thread supply can manually be passed through the thread guides, The thread take-up lever is displaced within a range of reciprocal swing so that threading is possible for at least one of the first and second preparatory paths.

  • Patent number: 5911182
Abstract: When a handy scanner 8 reads a standard sewing designation mark 45 drawn in advance on a work sheet 39 held by an embroidery frame 34, the sewing data on an embroidery pattern to be sewn can be edited so that the position and direction and the pattern size at the time the embroidery pattern is actually sewn on the work sheet 39 correspond to the position and direction and the pattern size indicated by the standard mark 45. Accordingly, the sewing data can be simply edited only if the work sheet 39 is set in the embroidery frame 34, without manual operations, resulting in a large improvement of the efficiency of sewing work.

  • Patent number: 5363783
Abstract: A sewing machine capable of sewing selectively in different patterns each created by stitches formed on a work fabric, the machine including a display device having a screen for displaying a library of selectable items which includes icons identifying the different patterns, a display controller including an operator-controlled control dial and operable to specify one of the selectable items displayed on the screen according to a rotary movement of the dial, and a selector including an operator-controlled selecting member and operable to select one selectable item when the selecting member is operated while that one selectable item is specified on the screen. The display controller is operable to scroll the library of selectable items and thereby change a current image on the display screen, when the currently specified selectable item is not included in the current image of the screen.

  • Patent number: 5347940
Abstract: A pattern selection apparatus displays patterns and allows any of the displayed patterns to be directly selected. The apparatus comprises a control circuit, a display unit, an item designating dial and a selection establishing key. The control circuit indicates on the display unit where a cursor-highlighted displayed pattern is located relative to all the patterns under the same subset heading. As the cursor is moved in response to rotation of the item designating dial, the pattern location indication is correspondingly changed. Pushing the selection establishing key selects the cursor-highlighted pattern. Thus, any of the patterns displayed on the display unit is selected quickly and easily.

  • Patent number: 5109782
Abstract: A bobbin-thread supply device for a sewing machine. The operator inserts the bobbin into the bobbin holder, draws bobbin thread from the bobbin, and passes the tip of the bobbin thread through the slit in the cover above the bobbin holder. Since the slit in the cover extends above where the tension bracket is joined onto the tension spring, the bobbin thread is guided between the tension bracket and the tension spring through the tension regulating portion. The bobbin thread can thus easily be set with appropriately tension applied thereon. At the same time, the length of the bobbin thread can be adjusted for proper sewing operation.
