  • Patent number: 4693694
Abstract: A toy, as for instance a simulated toy computer, has a housing with a window formed in the housing. Behind the window is an indicia strip or carrier which has indicia located on its surface. Positioned in front of the indicia strip is a lenticular screen. The lenticular screen is connected to a mechanism which mechanically moves the lenticular screen with respect to the indicia. Movement of the lenticular screen in front of the indicia gives the appearance that the indicia, in fact, is moving. Actuator keys are provided on the housing for advancing the indicia strip and for activating the movement of the lenticular screen.

  • Patent number: 4619625
Abstract: A construction toy has a first module which includes a bellows and a bulb with a tube connecting the two. The bellows includes a connector on each of its ends. Second modules each having connectors which mate with the connectors on the bellows, attached to the respective ends of the bellows. Third modules, each having an axle having wheels located thereon, are connected to the second modules utilizing mating connectors. The wheels on the third module include a ratchet mechanism allowing for rotation in only one direction. Upon each compression of the bulb, fluid pressure is transmitted to the bellows to elongate it, and in so doing, one of the third modules is moved away from the other; and upon release of the bulb, the bellows shortens bringing the other of the third modules back toward the first.

  • Patent number: 4579538
Abstract: A construction toy utilizes a plurality of tubular elements which are connectable to each other or are connectable to one or more hollow members. Each of the tubular elements has a first skirt on one end and a second skirt on its opposite end which are of the same size and are utilized to attach the elements to the hollow members. Further, attaching to one of the skirts on one of the ends is a smaller skirt which allows the smaller skirt to be attached to one of the skirts on a further of the tubular elements so as to connect two tubular elements together. The tubular elements have a plurality of convolutions which allow them to be expanded or contracted so as to lengthen or foreshorten the tubular elements as well as allowing the tubular elements to bend during the construction of structures with the components of the invention.

  • Patent number: 4573928
Abstract: A teaching toy has a housing with a viewing screen located in the housing. Positioned behind the viewing screen is an indicia carrier located on rollers. A plurality of indicia is located on the surface of the indicia carrier. By rolling the indicia carrier on the rollers, different portions of the indicia located on the indicia carrier are viewable through the viewing screen. Associated with the indicia carrier and located in front of it between it and the screen are a series of cover members which can temporarily cover a part of the indicia which is exposed through the screen. Operator actuators are connected to the cover members so as to allow the cover members to sequentially move from a position wherein they cover the indicia to a position where they no longer cover the indicia. By sequentially utilizing the actuator members, a child utilizing the toy partially uncovers the indicia, allowing the child to guess what the total indicia will be.

  • Patent number: 4402158
Abstract: A toy has a housing in which is movably mounted a primary movable member. The primary movable member moves from a first position to a second position. The toy includes a first mechanism for moving the primary movable member from the first position to the second position and a second mechanism which moves the primary movable member from the second position to the first position, while concurrently governing the rate of the movement from the second position to the first position. Associated with the primary movable member are one or more secondary movable members. The secondary movable members are capable of moving between two positions in response to movement of the primary movable member between its first and second position. When more than one secondary movable member is included, as the primary movable member moves from the second position to the first position, the secondary movable members are sequentially moved.

  • Patent number: 4156322
Abstract: A simulated toy typewriter which is effective as a toy can be constructed utilizing a carriage movably mounted on a housing so as to be capable of being moved between the ends of a linear path. At least one simulated key or key element accessible from the exterior of the housing is pivotally mounted on the housing. Mechanical elements are used to cause advancement of the carriage from one end of the linear path toward the other an incremental amount each time a key element on the typewriter is actuated. The carriage contains a changeable exhibitor, a portion of which is visible through the exterior of the carriage. A mechanical structure is provided for actuating the changeable exhibitor so that a different portion of the exhibitor is visible from the exterior of the carriage each time the carriage is moved to adjacent to one end of the linear path.
