  • Patent number: 5933252
Abstract: An image processing method and apparatus for converting image data for use in a color CRT and an image processing device each having a different color reproducible range, for example, a color printer. Color component data of color image data corresponding to a most parts of a color reproducible range of the color printer having a color reproducible region which is narrower than that of the color CTR is not converted. The hue and the brightness of color component data of color image data exceeding the color reproducible range of the color printer are not substantially converted but only chromaticness is converted. A part deviated from the color reproducible range can be approximated to the outer periphery of the reproducible range. Furthermore, the most part of the color reproducible range is correctly color-reproduced and the color image is converted so as to make a portion of the same to be a compressed space of an all color space.

  • Patent number: 5742296
Abstract: An image processing method for executing image data conversion between different types of input and output devices having different color reproduction ranges, and an apparatus therefor are disclosed. A device independent color reproduction range is calculated in, e.g., a CIE L*a*b* uniform color space, and a color reproduction range depending on a device such as a binary recording color printer is calculated. Only a saturation is compressed at a compression ratio corresponding to the ratio of the two calculated color reproduction ranges. Thus, when an output device outputs a color image, image qualities (color reproducibilities) of input and output images can be equalized. Even when a color outside the color reproduction range of the output device is to be output, a satisfactory output which preserves gradation characteristics can be obtained.

  • Patent number: 5369507
Abstract: An image processing apparatus and method selects a processing mode to be one of a character image processing mode and a picture image processing mode in accordance with an image texture in an original image. The apparatus and method uses a scanner which pre-scans an original image to obtain sampled image data, a judging means discriminates between a character image area and a picture image area in an area of the original image based on an analysis of the sampled image data. The apparatus and method the original image processing mode from a character image processing mode to a picture image processing mode and vice versa based on the discrimination by the judging means.

  • Patent number: 4983263
Abstract: A zincate type zinc alloy electroplating bath which comprises a Zn compound, an alkali hydroxide, a salt of Fe(II, III) or Ni(II), a chelating agent for dissolving said salt of Fe(II, III) or Ni(II) and brightening agents. The chelating agent is selected from the group consisting of a commercially available chelating agent and a reaction product of a mixture of one or more kinds of aliphatic amine with epihalohydrin. The brightening agents contain alkylated polyalkylene polyamine in which some of the basic nitrogen atoms of polyalkylene polyamine are alkylated by alkyl groups of C.sub.1 to C.sub.3, and one or more compounds selected from the group consisting of reaction products of imidazole or its derivative with epihalohydrin and reaction products of imidazole or its derivative with epihalohydrin in the presence of aliphatic amine.

  • Patent number: 4741046
Abstract: A method of discriminating pictures, wherein a picture is binary-coded. The variation in the number of foreground pixels constituting foreground pixel regions within a discrimination unit area is determined. Alternatively the variation in the distance between said foreground pixel regions is determined. It is then determined by a known relationship whether the discrimination unit area is of a dot gradation picture or not. If the picture is not a dot gradation picture, the rate of background is measured to determine whether the above discrimination unit area is of a line picture or of a continuous tone picture.
