  • Patent number: 7431285
Abstract: The present invention is a vibratory sheet jogger which is used to jog and separate sheets of paper such as bank checks so that the sheets of paper and/or bank checks can be aligned. To achieve this result, a vertically jogging motion of a sheet tray is generated from a mechanical combination of an eccentric pulley assembly driven by a DC motor and a slotted ring comprising a slotted bore affixed to the sheet tray of the jogger. Specifically the combination includes a ball bearing with the eccentric pulley inserted into the slotted bore of the slotted ring, wherein the height of the slotted bore matches the outside diameter of the ball bearing, and the length of the slotted bore is larger than the diameter of the ball bearing.

  • Patent number: 7172354
Abstract: A self-contained edge printing machine which can print any sequence of numbers or letters adjacent the top edge or adjacent the bottom edge of a standard 8½? by 11? piece of paper. The machine is a stand-alone self-contained unit that has its own stationary inkjet printer and its own internal computer.

  • Patent number: 5895904
Abstract: A magnetic ink character recognition (MICR) encoder device which is used for processing checks. The MICR encoder utilizes a dot matrix printer head for printing numerical information on checks. The MICR encoder comprises a self-contained housing for housing a guiding assembly, a transporting assembly, a detection assembly, a printing assembly, a microprocessor, and a stepper motor. The printing assembly includes a ribbon cartridge and a dot matrix printer head coupled to the ribbon cartridge for printing characters on the check. The dot matrix printer head has an extended head portion with nine tip wires thereon, where the characters are printed continuously on the check while the check is traveling through the guide assembly, thereby eliminating the need to stop the check for printing as taught by prior art MICR encoder devices.

  • Patent number: 5009139
Abstract: An apparatus for orienting a check which has attached to it a corroborating paper strip in a manner such that the check and the paper strip are aligned relative to a cutting station to permit the check and the attached strip to be automatically presented to the cutting knife in a precise location such that the knife can automatically cut the check at the location of the intersection of the check edge and the edge of the corroborating paper strip and thereafter separate the two and cause the detached check to be sent to one processing station while the detached corroborating paper strip is sent to a waste paper station.
