  • Patent number: 6901895
Abstract: A camshaft rotational detection structure is configured that can improve the precision with which the camshaft rotational angle is detected. The camshaft rotational detection structure detects the rotational angle of a camshaft to which rotation is transmitted from the crankshaft of an engine through a cam sprocket mechanism. The camshaft rotational detection structure is provided with a cam thrust flange, a detection target, and a sensor. The cam thrust flange is provided on the camshaft near the end of the camshaft where the cam sprocket mechanism exists and serves to restrict axial movement of the camshaft. The detection target is provided on the cam thrust flange. The sensor is arranged facing opposite the detection target and is configured to detect the rotational angle of the camshaft.

  • Patent number: 6615779
Abstract: The movable valve apparatus includes the movable valve mechanism, the hydraulic pressure control valve, and the controller. The movable valve mechanism changes the opening/closing timing of an air intake or exhaust valve depending on the supplied hydraulic pressure of the working fluid. The hydraulic pressure control valve adjusts the supplied hydraulic pressure depending on the working condition of the spool. The controller controls the solenoid that drives the spool. When it is determined that the spool is in the returning state, in which the spool starts moving toward the initial position, the foreign object removal operation is executed. During the foreign removal operation, the spool temporarily reciprocates in order to remove foreign objects in the hydraulic pressure control valve.

Abstract: The movable valve apparatus (1) includes the movable valve mechanism (10), the hydraulic pressure control valve (12), and the controller (14). The movable valve mechaiism (10) changes ite opening/closing timing of an air intake or exhaust valve depending on the supplied hydraulic pressure of the working fluid. The hydraulic pressure cotitiol valve (12) adjusts the supplied hydraulic pressure depending on the working condition of the spool (40). The controller (14) controls the solenoid (44) that drives the spool (40). When it is determined that the spool (40) is in the returning state, in which the spool (40) starts moving toward the initial position, the foreign object removal operation is executed. During the toreign removal operation, the spool (40) temporarily reciprocates in order to remove foreign objects in the hydraulic pressure control valve (12).

  • Publication number: 20020038639
Abstract: A variable valve timing apparatus has a rotational torque transmission path that changes the relative phases of a camshaft that moves an engine valve and a rotary crank body that is coupled to the crankshaft. The rotational torque transmission path has uses an electromagnetic brake delay rotation of a drum, which is coupled to the rotary crank body by a biasing member and a moving member. When rotation of the drum is delayed, the moving member changes the angular orientation between the drum and the rotary crank body against the biasing force of the biasing member. The electromagnetic brake is coupled to a cover by two protrusions and two concavities. The protrusions are arranged to prevent contact between the electromagnetic brake and the drum due to tension of the chain.
