  • Publication number: 20200180038
Abstract: A cutting edge includes a nose portion, a first cutting edge portion, and a second cutting edge portion. When a boundary between a first inclined portion and a first breaker portion, a boundary between a first step surface and a second breaker portion, a boundary between a second inclined portion and a third breaker portion, and a boundary between a second step surface and a fourth breaker portion are a first position, a second position, a third position, and a fourth position, respectively, the second position is higher than the first position and the fourth position is higher than the third position in a direction perpendicular to the seating surface, and a distance between the first position and the third position is greater than a distance between the second position and the fourth position in a direction parallel to the seating surface.

  • Publication number: 20190232378
Abstract: The upper surface includes a first breaker projection face extending along the first side surface, a second breaker projection face extending along the second side surface, and a rake face located between the first breaker projection face and the second breaker projection face in top view. In a direction from the rear surface to the front surface, a first front end of the first breaker projection face is located ahead of a second front end of the second breaker projection face. A cutting edge has a first cutting edge portion and a second cutting edge portion. In a direction perpendicular to the reference surface, the second breaker projection face is lower than the first breaker projection face, and a boundary between the first cutting edge portion and the second cutting edge portion is lower than the second breaker projection face.

  • Patent number: 10118228
Abstract: A cutting insert includes a leading cutting edge having a rake angle in the range of 20° to 35° in a central region in a width direction; and a rake face having a breaker groove formed in the central region in the width direction and land portions formed in both end regions in the width direction. The land portions have a rake angle smaller than the rake angle in the central region in the width direction. The breaker groove includes opposing side faces separated from each other by a distance that decreases with increasing distance from the leading cutting edge and four shoulder portions of the same height that are formed on the opposing side faces at positions above the land portions, two of the shoulder portions being closer to the leading cutting edge and to outer sides in the width direction than the other two shoulder portions are.

  • Patent number: 9630255
Abstract: An object of the present invention is to configure a cutting-off processing tool that includes a cutting edge angled at an end cutting edge angle and causes evacuation of chips to be controlled so that the chips are evacuated in the tool axis direction, thereby reducing concerns about damage to a processed surface by the chips. The cutting-off processing tool includes a cutting edge angled at the end cutting edge angle. In the cutting-off processing tool, an upper surface has a shape laterally asymmetric about a center in a width direction. In the cutting-off processing tool, when ?b is a rake angle of a rake face on a first corner side positioned on a foremost end of the tool, and ?c is a rake angle of the rake face on a second corner side, ?b>?c is satisfied.

  • Patent number: 4613896
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for avoiding moire occurring in color scanning for graphic art, wherein light rays from a color original are passed through a pick-up lens, and prior to starting the color scanning, are modulated by means of a low-pass filter, which modulated rays are branched into two optical paths, on one of the paths a lattice plane is provided so as to project the modulated rays thereon, the lattice plane being beforehand selected in accordance with various conditions for scanning. A possible moire on the lattice plane is observed thereby to adjust the low-pass filter by replacement or displacement until the moire disappears on the lattice plane. Finally the light rays from the color original are modulated by the selected low-pass filter.
