  • Patent number: 5848380
Abstract: As a simulation load is driven with an object cell, a cell discharge stop voltage is estimated by collecting data of a discharge current and a terminal voltage, processing the collected data to obtain an approximate linear function between the discharge current and the terminal voltage, substituting a first reference value into the linear function to estimate a first voltage, making a decision for the first voltage having reached a second reference value, responding to the decision for substituting a third reference value into the linear function to estimate a second voltage, and outputting the second voltage as a representative value of the discharge stop voltage.

  • Patent number: 5744963
Abstract: While a power source is being supplied from a sub-battery by a voltage-current change trend calculating section, the voltage-current change trend calculating section collects currents from a battery and terminal voltages. A voltage-current approximate straight line calculating section obtains an approximately linear function, and a battery residual capacity calculating section obtains a residual capacity voltage based upon the approximately linear function and open-circuit voltages. A current storage stop discriminating section integrates the currents while the residual capacity voltage is lower than a previous residual capacity voltage, and when supplying from the sub-battery is stopped, obtains total capacity according to the open-circuit voltages at the stop and supplying and according to the integrated currents.

  • Patent number: 5703486
Abstract: A voltage sensor detects a terminal voltage of a battery connected to a load and a current sensor detects a current flowing through the load. A voltage-current changing tendency calculation unit reads a detected voltage and a detected current detected by the voltage sensor and the current sensor and outputs, every predetermined period of time, plural data of the detected voltage and the corresponding detected current as dispersed data. A voltage-current approximating line calculation unit inputs the dispersed data and determines, based on the dispersed data, a voltage-current approximating linear function each time the predetermined period of time. A battery remaining capacity calculation unit determines, each time the voltage-current approximating linear function is determined, a remaining capacity of the battery based on the voltage-current approximating linear function.

  • Patent number: 5698983
Abstract: The apparatus and method of the present invention measure the remaining capacity of a battery connected to a fluctuating load. The apparatus senses dispersive terminal voltages and dispersive discharge currents from the battery, and samples the sensed terminal voltages and discharge currents. On the basis of the sampled terminal voltages and discharge currents, the apparatus calculates a watt-hour value of the battery for a predetermined time interval, and checks whether the calculated watt-hour value reaches a predetermined value. If the calculated watt-hour value reaches the predetermined value, the apparatus calculates an approximate linear function indicative of a trend of the sampled terminal voltages and discharge currents, and calculates a voltage corresponding to a reference discharge current in accordance with the calculated approximate linear function as a remaining capacity voltage.

  • Patent number: 5672973
Abstract: When a car is moved, a current and a voltage from a battery change and a power-supply voltage of a sub-battery is not lower than a manipulation level, an approximately linear function is obtained according to a current from a buttery and a terminal voltage, and residual capacity is displayed according to the approximately linear function. When the car is stopped and the current and the voltage of the battery do not change, the residual capacity is obtained according to the voltage. Moreover, when a power source supplying control circuit judges that an ignition is turned off, a voltage of the power source is lowered to the manipulation level so as to be supplied for prescribed time required for the battery becoming constant.

  • Patent number: 5654630
Abstract: A sensor contactlessly driven by a single power supply is disclosed. A current flows in a resistor R.sub.L through the secondary winding of a coil in the direction corresponding to the direction of magnetic fluxes generated in the coil in accordance with discharge or charge mode of a main battery. The input terminal of a voltage follower is connected to the voltage-dividing point of a series circuit including resistors R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 and a reference voltage control circuit. The reference voltage control circuit changes the input voltage of the voltage follower in accordance with the direction of the current flowing in the resistor R.sub.L. It follows therefore that the measurement range is switched in accordance with discharge or charge mode of the main battery, with the result that the overall measurement range can be widened in spite of the fact that only a single power supply +Vcc is used.
