  • Patent number: 7279817
Abstract: A connector housing 45 is formed separately from a gear housing 20 and a closing and fixing member 21. The connector housing 45 includes a retainer 49, which supports an external connector 48 relative to the closing and fixing member 21, and an elastically deformable grommet 50. A retainer-side end of the grommet 50 is interposed between a flange portion of the retainer 49 and an outer surface of the closing and fixing member 21, and the connector housing 45 is secured to a connector installation opening 43. With this construction, it is possible to achieve a high degree of design freedom and to provide a motor having a drip-proof structure of a relatively simple configuration.

  • Patent number: 7190095
Abstract: A motor has a board-retaining part that is attached in an opening portion of a gear housing with a circuit board received in the board-installing portion of the gear housing and that restricts the circuit board to move to a counter-insertion side thereof in an insertion direction of the circuit board. The board-retaining part can be attached to any position not to bring that in contact with the cover member in the direction of the center axis. Thus, in a case of installing the circuit board through the opening portion of the gear housing and blocking the opening with the cover member, it is possible to secure a seal quality of the cover member and to prevent the circuit board from rattling even when a dimensional error is introduced both in approximating and detaching directions of the circuit board and the cover member.

  • Patent number: 7138736
Abstract: An end surface portion 8a of a gear housing 8, which is located on a motor unit 2 side of the gear housing 8, is opposed to the motor unit 2 and laterally extends. A brush holder 10 includes a plate portion 13 that is opposed to the end surface portion 8a. A case 15, which receives the control circuit board 14, is formed separately from the plate portion 13. A receiving through hole, through which the circuit board receiver 15 is receivable, is formed in the plate portion 13. The case 15 is constructed to be positionable next to the yoke 5 in a state where the case 15 is received through the receiving through hole. The yoke 5, the gear housing 8, the brush holder 10, the control circuit board 14 and the case 15 are assembleable in a direction parallel to an axial direction of the motor unit 2.

  • Patent number: 6756711
Abstract: A motor includes a motor unit and a speed reducing unit. The speed reducing unit has a gear housing. The gear housing includes a circuit board receiving portion and an opening that faces the motor unit. A control circuit board is received in the circuit board receiving portion through the opening in an axial direction of a rotatable shaft. When the motor unit is assembled to the speed-reducing unit, the control circuit board is clamped between the speed-reducing unit and a cover connected to the motor unit.

  • Patent number: 6700245
Abstract: A rotatable shaft of a motor main body and a worm shaft of a speed reducing unit are drivingly coupled to each other by a clutch. Surrounding walls, which are arranged radially outward of the clutch to substantially entirely surround the clutch in an imaginary plane that extends substantially perpendicular to the axis of the worm shaft, are formed integrally with a gear housing. Thus, the surrounding walls restrain outward movement of grease, which is applied to predetermined portions of the clutch, so that effluence of the grease from the clutch is restrained.

  • Patent number: 6398582
Abstract: The structure for fixing a grommet to a housing is composed of a housing provided with a connector portion formed at least partly in a column shape, a wire harness connector coupled with the connector portion with a coupling gap and a tubular shaped grommet made of resilient material put on an outside circumferential surface of the connector portion to waterproof seal the coupling gap. The grommet includes a wall with openings that snap over protrusions on the connector portion to rigidly fix them together. The connector portion includes a locking through hole for receiving a latch on the wire harness connector. Seal lips on the grommet are angled downward so as to provide sealing for the locking hole.

  • Patent number: 6294851
Abstract: A terminal for supplying power to a motor portion is inserted in a housing formed by molding resin, and both ends of the terminal are exposed from the housing. When the housing is molded, an insulation member such as first and second plates contacts a die for forming the housing, and the terminal is engaged with the insulation member before the housing is molded, so that an attachment position of the terminal is set relative to the die through the insulation member. The insulation member is inserted in the housing together with the terminal by pouring melted resin in the die. Thus, the housing in which the terminal is inserted can be readily molded, and it can prevent liquid from being introduced to the terminal in the housing.
