  • Patent number: 11962847
Abstract: A channel hiatus correction method for an HDMI device is provided. A recovery code from scrambled data of the stream is obtained. A liner feedback shift register (LFSR) value of channels of the HDMI port is obtained based on the recovery code and the scrambled data of the stream. The stream is de-scrambled according to the LFSR value of the channels of the HDMI port. Video data is displayed according to the de-scrambled stream.

  • Patent number: 8053216
Abstract: A new method to produce formulations of bacterial cellulose that exhibit improved viscosity-modifying properties particularly with low energy applied to effectuate viscosity changes therewith is provided. Such a method includes the novel co-precipitation with a water soluble co-agent that permits precipitation in the presence of excess alcohol to form an insoluble fiber that can than be utilized as a thickener or suspension aid without the need to introduce high energy mixing. Such bacterial cellulose properties have been available in the past but only through highly labor and energy intensive processes. Such an inventive method as now proposed thus provides a bacterial cellulose-containing formulation that exhibits not only properties that are as effective as those for previous bacterial celluloses, but, in some ways, improvements to such previous types. Certain end-use compositions and applications including these novel bacterial cellulose-containing formulations are also encompassed within this invention.

  • Patent number: 7014808
Abstract: A coating device for coating an interior surface of a continuous tube of material with a fluid. The coating device includes an extruder die for forming the continuous tube of material and a fluid delivery system. The fluid delivery system is positioned within the extruder die so as to introduce the fluid onto the interior surface of the continuous tube of material.

  • Publication number: 20040109932
Abstract: Methods and coating compositions are provided for producing an acid coated drinking straw or confectionery article. Acid coated drinking straws and acid coated confectionery articles are also provided. The method includes heating a food grade acid composition to a temperature sufficient for the acid composition to become fluid; applying the fluid acid to a surface of a drinking straw or confectionery substrate; and then cooling the acid coated drinking straw or acid coated confectionery substrate to a temperature sufficient to immobilize the acid composition on the surface. The food grade acid composition can comprise, for example, about 40 to 100 weight percent food grade acid (such as citric acid, phosphoric acid, malic acid, or a mixture thereof), 0 to about 5 weight percent surface tension reducing agent, 0 to about 30 weight percent plasticizer, 0 to about 20 weight percent bulk agent, and 0 to about 30 weight percent water.

  • Patent number: 6602996
Abstract: The invention relates to a modified gellan gum in which the total acyl content as well as the ratio of acyl substituent groups to glycerate substituent groups per linear saccharide repeat unit is altered to be higher than 1. The invention further relates to a process for the modification of a gellan gum to alter its acyl content in which the gum is treated with a weak base such as sodium or potassium carbonate or a suitable phosphate. The process enables “tailor made” gums having appropriate setting temperatures and theological properties to be made. Novel compositions containing them are also claimed.

  • Publication number: 20020173553
Abstract: A composition comprising xanthan gum particles coated with a mixture of zein (corn protein) and at least one emulsifier. The surface coating improves the dispersion and hydration of xanthan gum resulting in shorter mix times for the user of the xanthan gum. Moreover, the xanthan gum powder dispersibility and hydration properties may be tailored by modifying the amounts of the zein and emulsifier in the coating blend. In addition, there is a significant fine particle reduction with the coated xanthan gum.

  • Patent number: 6453608
Abstract: A seed coating comprising gellan gum is disclosed along with a process which comprises admixing gellan gum and water under effective shear conditions to prepare an aqueous gellan gum coating composition thereof whereby the aqueous gellan gum coating composition may be applied in an adherent fashion to a seed to form a gellan gum coated seed. A gellan gum seed coating composition may indicate one or more bioactive(s) and optionally one or more colors.

  • Patent number: 6242035
Abstract: This invention provides reduced molecular weight gellan gums. The reduced molecular weight gellan gums of this invention generally have a weight average molecular weight less than about 1.7×106, and typically in a range of about 1.2×106 to about 9.3×105. This invention also provides compositions, e.g., solutions and gels, comprising reduced molecular weight gellan gums. The reduced molecular weight gellan gums of this invention may be prepared by any method which reduces the molecular weight of polymers. Such methods include homogenization, sonication, radiation, oxidation and hydrolysis.

  • Patent number: 5944866
Abstract: The invention provides an alternative to conventional sol-gel methods that utilize undesirably high amounts of a stabilizing agent such as TMAH and a gelling agent such as methyl formate. The method involves the steps of (a) providing a colloidal silica dispersion containing a stabilizing/gelling agent, where only a portion of the molecules of the agent ionize, and (b) subsequently adding to the silica dispersion a pH-reducing additive. The stabilizing/gelling agent has a dual function. The agent, e.g., an amine, initially acts as a stabilizer in the silica dispersion in that a portion of its molecules ionize, while an appreciable amount of the agent remains non-ionized. The agent later transforms in situ to a gelling agent upon addition of a pH-reducing additive. Specifically, as the pH-reducing additive lowers the pH to values at or around the pK.sub.
