  • Patent number: 7606228
Abstract: There are provided a home gateway system providing an optical communication packet data interface function and a home broadcast service providing method using the same. The home gateway system is constructed to include a network processor having two Ethernet interfaces connected to a system control processor of a home gateway and an Ethernet switch having an Ethernet multicast traffic processing/IGMP snooping function based on an Ethernet L2 multicast MAC table to thereby simultaneously provide a broadcast service such as a CATV broadcast service, and an Internet data service to a plurality of hosts in a home. In case of a broadcast service, the home gateway system converts a broadcast stream into an IP multicast packet and then processes the broadcast IP multicast packet by an L2 multicast function of an Ethernet switch, thereby making it possible to directly transmit the broadcast IP multicast packet to a host without the help of the control processor.

  • Patent number: 7512396
Abstract: An apparatus for reducing power consumption in a digital broadcast receiver is provided. An AC-to-DC converter converts input AC power into DC power that can be used in the receiver. A power control switch selectively supplies the DC power from the converter to a tuner unit and a decoder according to a command of a controller. The tuner unit receives broadcast channel signals and demodulates the received broadcast channel signals according to the respective broadcast formats. The decoder receives the demodulated broadcast signals from the tuner unit and decodes analog/digital broadcast signals. A multimedia output port is connected between the decoder and the display unit to transfer the audio/video output signals from the decoder to the display unit. The controller detects the state of the display unit through the multimedia output port to control whether to supply the DC power through the power control switch.

Abstract: A home server having an integrated set-top function and a controlling method thereof are provided. The home server includes a processor unit, a tuner unit, an open cable broadcast receiving unit, and a set-top core unit. The processor unit receives an IPTV broadcast from an access network, includes control S/W for each broadcast type, receives a channel change request from a user, and stores and provides previously-watched channel information. The tuner unit includes a plurality of tuners and receives a MPEG2 TS according to the user's request. The open cable broadcast receiving unit releases a conditional access of the MPEG2 TS and encodes the received MPEG2 TS for copy protection. The set-top core unit receives the MPEG2 TS from the processor unit, the tuner unit and the open cable broadcast receiving unit, selects a channel in response to the control S/W, decodes the selected channel, and outputs video signal.

  • Patent number: 5708657
Abstract: A base station controller interface of the code division multiple access (CDMA) mobile system is described for interfacing between the base station controller and the CDMA mobile switching center (MSC) of the CDMA mobile system (CMS). The base station controller decreases the load of the system by including, for every base station controller interface, the mobile announcement (MANM) to service the state information of the subscriber of interest for all paging to the mobile subscriber. At the same time, the connection between the base station controller and the base station controller interface of the mobile switching center utilizes the EL 2048 Kbps interfacing technique applying the conventional communication network recommended in the ITU-T. The transmission of the message and the call traffic using the interfacing technique is performed to be linked with the TSB of the base station controller.
