Abstract: An actuator fixing device of a hard disk drive includes an actuator having a permanent magnet; a solenoid latch composed of a damper for buffering an impact resulting from contact with the permanent magnet, a coil for applying an electrical current, and an iron rod bound with the coil to generate an electromagnetic force upon application of the electrical current; and a yoke for installing the solenoid latch. The solenoid latch of the actuator fixing device exerts a repulsive force upon the permanent magnet when the electrical current is applied to the coil of the solenoid latch, thereby separating the actuator from the solenoid latch. When the electrical current is interrupted, the permanent magnet is attracted to the iron rod of the solenoid latch, thereby fixing the actuator to the solenoid latch.
