  • Patent number: 7664131
Abstract: Provided is a channel resource assignment method for fair channel resource reservation in a mesh WPAN, in which the amount of channel resources is fairly reserved when devices share the channel resources. The channel resource assignment method in a mesh Wireless Personal Area Network (WPAN) includes the steps of: (a) transmitting beacons of all devices and adding an amount of channel resource to be reserved to the beacons so as to assign the channel resource for fair channel resource reservation between corresponding devices and adjacent devices when a mesh network is configured; (b) accumulating the amount of the channel resources reserved by all the adjacent devices except the corresponding device; and (c) determining the amount of the channel resources to be reserved.

  • Patent number: 7477630
Abstract: A transmission controller used in a media access controlling (MAC) processing apparatus and a transmission controlling technique. The transmission controller includes a transmission frame sorting unit for sorting out transmission frames transmitted from an LLC layer based on each transmission service and requesting control of the transmission frames and a transmission queue controlling unit for requesting to store the transmission frames, information on the transmission frames, and controlling the transmission of the transmission frames. The transmission controller includes a transmission queue storing unit for storing information on the sorting of the transmission frames based on each transmission service or each mobile terminal and a frame controlling unit for storing the transmission frames, generating and storing CF POLL frames, and transmitting the transmission frames and the CF POLL frames to a wireless physical layer.

  • Publication number: 20070081490
Abstract: Provided is a channel time allocating method using Extended Contention Access Period (ECAP) in a wireless personal area network (WPAN). The method includes the steps of: a) receiving channel time allocation requests for data transmission from the Devices; and b) allocating channel time upon the channel time allocation request of the Devices and allocating a rest time period which are left behind after channel time allocation to the Devices as the ECAPs for competitive use of the Devices. The method can be used to allocate the channel time in the WPAN.

  • Publication number: 20070036105
Abstract: Provided is an apparatus and method for providing inter-piconet data communication in a wireless personal area network. The apparatus includes a piconet association unit, a superframe synchronization unit, a superframe synchronization unit, a DSPS (device synchronized power save) set creation unit, a piconet information announcement unit, a transfer data storage unit, and a data transfer unit. The piconet association unit confirms that a plurality of piconets are located on different channels, and performs a piconet association process. The superframe synchronization unit performs superframe synchronization between piconets. The DSPS set creation unit creates a DSPS set or joining an existing DSPS set. The piconet information announcement unit provides a device with information about another data-transferable piconet and devices belonging to the piconet. The transfer data storage unit receives and stores data requested to be transferred within a superframe.
