  • Patent number: 10428307
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for converting mesenchymal stem cells into endothelial cells by using specific transcription factors and, more specifically, a method for converting mesenchymal stem cells into endothelial cells by using Oct4, Nanog, Tal1, and LMO2, which are specific transcription factors. According to the present invention, the method for converting adult cells or mesenchymal stem cells, which are adult stem cells, into endothelial cells was developed by selecting two types of genes, which are less directly related to cancer induction, among cell reprogramming factors and two types of transcription factors, which are not expressed or expressed at a low level in mesenchymal stem cells, among transcription factors related to vascular development, and combining all four transcription factors. The method can be applied in the production of endothelial cells for forming regenerative tissue in tissue engineering and ischemic disease therapy.

  • Patent number: 9121015
Abstract: Provided are peptides having anti-angiogenic activity and a use thereof, and more particularly, to peptides for inhibiting angiogenesis, the peptides including amino acid sequence with potent anti-angiogenic activity, a composition for inhibiting angiogenesis, the composition including the peptides, a medicine for inhibiting angiogenesis, the medicine including the composition, and a method for inhibiting angiogenesis using the peptides. The peptides for inhibiting angiogenesis, the peptides including the amino acid sequence of the invention provides not only potent inhibitory activity on proliferation, migration and tube formation of vascular endothelial cells, but also potent in vivo anti-angiogenic activity and inhibitory activity on proliferation and migration of cancer cells. Therefore, the peptide for inhibiting angiogenesis can be efficaciously used as a treatment for various diseases including cancer with abnormal regulation of angiogenesis.

  • Patent number: 9023824
Abstract: The invention relates to a composition for angiogenesis inhibition comprising a peroxidasin inhibitor as an effective ingredient, and more particularly, to a method of screening angiogenesis inhibitor, which includes steps of treating a test agent, and analyzing peroxidasin gene expression or protein activity, and comparing peroxidasin gene expression or protein activity between a case treated with the test agent and a case not treated with the test agent. Accordingly, since the inhibitor of the peroxidasin expression or protein activity according to the present invention can effectively inhibit migration, proliferation and tube formation of endothelial cells, the inhibitor can be effectively used for preventing or treating a variety of diseases or conditions of the diseases derived from abnormal regulation of angiogenesis.

  • Patent number: 6770457
Abstract: The present invention relates to process of purifying the angiogensis inhibitor proteins expressed in E. coli and to the use of recombinant kringle 1-3 (; greenstatin) purified by the above process as a angiogenesis inhibitor and an anticancer agent. Particularly, according to the process of purifying the protein, the angiogenesis inhibitor proteins overexpressed are solubilized, refolded, and purified as a pure and active form. The greenstatin purified by the process specifically suppresses endothelial cell proliferation, anaiogenesis, and the growth of lung cancer, skin cancer, and brain tumor. Therefore, the process of this invention is applicable to the mass-production of angiogenesis inhibitor proteins such as greenstatin which is useful for the treatment of glaucoma, retinopathy, and cancers.
