Abstract: An aerosol generating device according to an embodiment includes a heater configured to heat a cigarette, a temperature sensor configured to measure temperature of the heater, and a controller configured to determine a humidity state of the cigarette by calculating a temperature increase time of the cigarette by using the temperature sensor and by comparing the calculated temperature increase time of the cigarette with a preset threshold. The controller supplies power to the heater according to a basic temperature profile when the temperature increase time is less than the threshold, and supplies power to the heater according to a first correction profile when the temperature increase time is greater than or equal to the threshold.

Abstract: An aerosol generating system according to one embodiment includes a cigarette having a first color band of which color changes in response to humidity, and an aerosol generating device including a main body including an accommodation passage for accommodating the cigarette, a heater for heating the cigarette, a color sensor arranged on one side of the accommodation passage and detecting a color of the first color band, and a controller for determining a humidity state of the cigarette, based on a detected color of the first color band.

Abstract: Methods of estimating motion in image data include the steps of producing a first frame of image data from a received video signal containing information of an image data frame of higher predetermined resolution (e.g., 352.times.244 pixels) and producing a second image data frame of coarser resolution (e.g., 88.times.61 pixels) relative to the first image data frame. An estimate of motion in the second image data frame is then produced and used to determine a estimate of motion in the first image data frame of higher resolution. The estimate of motion in the first image data frame is then used to obtain an estimate of motion in the received image data frame of predetermined full resolution. The estimate of motion in the second image data frame can be determined by reading a plurality of motion vectors from an image block in a previous version of the second image data frame and reading image data in a reference block in a current version of the second image data frame.
