  • Patent number: 6293026
Abstract: A method of measuring the height of a foot arch precisely and easily using two essential heights of the foot arch is disclosed. In the method, a foot cast is primarily cast by pouring plaster into a foot mold. Thereafter, a first intersecting point and a second intersecting point are determined. The first intersecting point is determined by making a first line and a third line intersect. The second intersecting point is determined by making a second line and the third line intersect. The first line is a straight line extending from the center of the second toe to the center of the heel end. The second line is a straight line extending from the center of the big toe to a point spaced apart inwardly from the center of the heel end by ⅛ of the total distance of the heel end. The third line is a center line of the transverse arch of the foot. Finally, a first height and a second height are measured while the foot pattern is set in an upright position.

  • Patent number: 6278950
Abstract: A method for compensating for amplitude loss in a set of seismic traces, where the amplitude loss is caused by shallow attenuation anomalies. Attenuation factors are calculated from first-arrival amplitudes for long-offset seismic data traces. Those factors are calculated by numerical methods, using matrix inversion and iteration. Those factors are used to adjust upward the amplitudes of all later-arriving seismic traces. Frequency dependent attenuation is treated by dividing the seismic traces into frequency ranges using band-pass filters, then using the above-described method within each frequency range after which the adjusted amplitudes are recombined. Amplitude variations caused by inconsistencies in the data acquisition system, such as a source strength variation, are also treated by a similar approach.

  • Patent number: 5781503
Abstract: A method for attenuating source-generated surface wavetrains in a set of seismic data traces. According to the method, the seismic data traces are Fourier transformed with respect to time to determine the frequency components of the surface wavetrain. A phase matching operation is then performed using estimates of the wavenumbers for each of the frequency components to approximately align the surface wavetrain in the seismic data traces. Next, a spatial low-pass filter is used to remove the approximately aligned surface wavetrain. Finally, the phase matching is removed and an inverse Fourier transformation is performed to return the seismic data traces to the time domain.

  • Patent number: 5575000
Abstract: An automatic broadcasting channel setting system and the method thereof for setting automatically a G-code channel, which is different according to respective districts, to a plus channel. Using G-code channel data according to respective districts which is provided as a data base, a G-code channel having the best receiving sensibility is set among the broadcasting channels being received, and the set G-code channel is set, or mapped, to a plus channel. According to an embodiment of the present invention, the automatically set channel data is backed-up to and stored in a separate device, and used in automatic channel setting of another image device in which channel setting is not performed.

  • Patent number: 5237042
Abstract: This invention relates to processes for the preparation of polybutylene terephthalate based polymer, which processes produce polymer having excellent color, a small amount of side-product and a high degree of polymerization within a short time. Complex catalyst which is employed comprises antimony compounds and titanium compounds, optionally together with phosphorous based compounds and hindered phenolic, and the catalyst decreases the phenomena that conventional catalysts of tin and titanium based compounds have of making the polymer colored by declining hydrolyzation and heat-stability. The catalyst also decreases the amount of side-product, THF sharply. As a result, improved polybutyleneterephthalate can be prepared.

  • Patent number: H482
Abstract: A seismic data processing method in which seismic traces (each trace containing a signal resulting from reflection of a seismic signal at a location within the earth, and each trace being associated with at least one point in a two-dimensional spatial grid (x,y)) are subjected to Fourier transformations, the coefficients of the Fourier-Transformed traces are subjected to a recursive KF migration operation, and the migrated traces are thereafter inverse-Fourier-transformed. When displayed, the processed seismic data accurately represents the position within the earth of whatever caused the reflection. The method may be employed to process stacked seismic traces, each associated with a single point (x,y) in the grid, or may be employed to process unstacked seismic traces, each associated with both a seismic source location (x.sub.s,y.sub.5) and a different seismic receiver location (x.sub.r,y.sub.r) in the grid.
