  • Publication number: 20240142790
Abstract: Devices and methods are provided for performing color correction of focal dispersion in high-harmonic lenses. The device comprises a multi-order diffractive engineered surface (MODE) lens comprising a MODE primary lens having height transitions in the front surface that segment it into annular zones and a color corrector comprising a diffractive Fresnel lens (DFL). Polychromatic light passing through the MODE primary lens experiences LCA that is corrected by the color corrector. The color corrector can be configured to correct Type 1 LCA resulting from a combined effect of the DFL and a refractive index change versus wavelength associated with material comprising the device that together produce a change in focus of the polychromatic light, as well as Type 2 LCA resulting from a cyclic variation in focal length versus wavelength caused by the abrupt changes in the height of the front surface of the MODE primary lens at the transitions.

  • Patent number: 11955759
Abstract: An irrigation control device is provided that includes adjacent terminal connector rows having a ridge portion between the rows, where the ridge portion is configured to support and guide wires to the terminal connectors of one row, and to support these wires above wires retained in another row of terminal connectors. In some embodiments, one of the terminal connector rows includes a plurality of risers coupled to the terminal connectors positioned in that row. The risers provide a vertical offset between the adjacent terminal connector rows, as well as a secure electrical and mechanical connection point for the wires to connect to the circuit board directly, or alternatively to the corresponding electrical pads coupled to the circuit board. The housing may include divider walls that each provide an additional barrier or isolation between side-by-side electrical connection pads, terminal connectors and their associated wires.

  • Patent number: 6965798
Abstract: A device for treating atrial fibrillation includes a pad which houses the distal end of an electrode which is adapted to deliver a substantially uniform shock gradient to an atrial surface of a postoperative cardiac patient, if atrial fibrillation is detected. The device also includes a catheter for delivering anti-arrhythmic and/or anesthetic drugs to the pad. After a treatment period, the device may be removed by pulling the electrode and the pad, if the pad is not bioabsorbable, into the catheter and then pulling the catheter through the patient's chest wall.

  • Publication number: 20040173222
Abstract: A magnetic pellet for use in treating a patient's congestive heart includes a contact portion and a plurality of wings. Each wing has a distal end portion hingedly connected to the contact portion and a proximal end portion. The proximal end portions bend toward each other when an electromagnetic field is applied to the pellet. A method of inserting the pellets into a myocardial wall of a heart includes supplying an electromagnetic field to the pellet attached to a distal end of an electromagnetic rod positioned within a delivery catheter, positioning the magnetic pellet at a target area on the myocardial wall; using an injection syringe, positioned at a proximal end of the catheter, to force the pellet into the myocardial wall; and removing the electromagnetic field previously supplied to the pellet and thereby causing the spring-wings to open.

  • Patent number: 6604529
Abstract: A method of aiding the compression and relaxation of a heart chamber using ferromagnetic and diamagnetic pellets inserted into the anterior and posterior walls of the chamber is provided. The pellets are inserted into the myocardial walls of the heart chamber by means of a delivery catheter. Electromagnetic fields, which are used to push and pull the pellets to compress and relax the hear chamber, are cyclically generated by electromagnetic field generators positioned on a patient's chest and back wall.

  • Publication number: 20020029037
Abstract: A percutaneous trans-endocardial reperfusion catheter, and a method of using the same, is provided for the treatment of acute myocardial ischemia. The catheter includes a compressive, ferromagnetic, and electrically conductive tip which is used with an external magnetic device to anchor the catheter tip in a desired position. Needles are movably mounted within the catheter to extend through exit ports formed therein near the catheter's distal end. When extended, the needles protrude beyond the ferromagnetic tip. With the ferromagnetic tip anchored in the myocardium, the needles may be extended to penetrate the tissue to form channels. One or more of the needles may have a hollow channel and holes formed therein for the delivery of drugs, blood, or other fluids directly into the tissue in which the needle is imbedded. An electrode positioned at the catheter tip may be used to detect electrical signals and to provide electrical therapy.

  • Patent number: 6045835
Abstract: A method of encapsulating an amphiphilic flavor or fragrance compound into a microcapsule having a hydrogel shell and an oil core. The flavor or fragrance compound is transported into and solubilized in the core by partition coefficient equilibrium using water in the capsule wall to transport the compound into the core. Microcapsules made by the method of the invention may have a wall thickness and contain a high concentration of the flavor or fragrance compound that has not previously been feasible.

  • Patent number: 5447961
Abstract: Disclosed herein is an O/W type emulsion comprising oils and milk characterized in that which comprises as an emulsifier polyethoxylated vitamin E in amount of 0.01 to 10% by weight. This emulsion may further contain vitamin E or its derivative. The emulsion according to the invention may stored for a long period of time without phase separation because polyethoxylated vitamin E contained therein forms microspheres in the interface of each emulsion particles. Further, it shows an improved activity of protecting the skin from the harmful oxygen species.
