    Abstract: An image forming apparatus and a high-resolution printing method for the image forming apparatus are disclosed. The high-resolution printing method includes the steps of receiving from a host computer a print data, calculating a divider coefficient N, a print fire position unit (PFPU), a position offset (PO) and a print position (PP), and a print fire start position (PFSP) based on the print data, detecting a position of the carriage operated by a control signal for driving the carriage, and if the carriage reaches the PP, delaying generation of an ink firing signal, and then starting a printing by generating and outputting the ink firing signal, starting from the PFSP. A high-resolution printing in the horizontal direction can be implemented by properly controlling the PP according to a desired resolution.

    Abstract: A method and apparatus for adjusting an image alignment of an image forming apparatus that uses a thermal print head for applying heat to first and second sides of a medium for printing are provided. In the apparatus and method, a first printed area on the first side of the medium is detected by a sensor after printing a first pattern on a first setup print zone of the first side of the medium, a first-to-second printed area on the medium is detected by the sensor after printing a second pattern on a second setup print zone of the second side of the medium, a position deviation between the printed areas of the first and second sides is calculated using the first setup print zone, the second setup print zone, the detected first printed area, and the detected first-to-second printed area, and the setup print zones of the first and second sides of the medium is adjusted using the calculated position deviation.

    Abstract: A borderless printing method and an image forming apparatus are provided for printing an image on a printable medium without a margin. The method includes: setting a print size of a print image and a print area of the print image out of an image magnified than the print size for the borderless printing; and printing the print image according to the set print area. Accordingly, when borderless printing is performed using an image forming apparatus, by allowing a user to adjust a position of a print area of a print image to be actually printed on a medium out of an image magnified than the size of the medium for the borderless printing, user convenience can be increased by easily preventing image data of an area desired by the user from not being printed, and by not driving write components of a printer head corresponding to marginal areas, power consumption can be reduced.

    Abstract: Provided is a method of printing thermal media by aligning an image using a printer in which a thermal printhead, a feeding roller, and an edge detection sensor are sequentially disposed in a print proceeding direction. The method includes the steps of feeding a thermal medium having a first surface and a second surface so that a front edge of the thermal medium is movable a first distance from the edge detection sensor. The thermal medium print starting position is located under a heating element of the thermal printhead. A printing process for the first surface is performed while feeding the medium nad the thermal printhead is rotated so that the thermal printhead faces the second surface of the thermal medium. The thermal medium is fed so that the front edge of the thermal medium moves a second distance from the edge detection sensor. The print starting position of the second surface is located under the heating element of the thermal printhead.

    Abstract: A dual job processing method of a multifunction peripheral having a carrier driver, a line feed driver and a scan driver, prevents power overload by avoiding overlapping actuation of the three drivers when dual job operations are requested. When an operation, that requires the use of the scan driver being requested while printing, is being performed by driving the carrier driver, the document scanning is performed by driving the scan driver, and the drive time for the line feed driver is delayed and initiated after the driving of the carrier driver is completed. When a request for printing is requested while scanning is being performed by driving the scan driver, printing is performed by driving the carrier driver, and the drive time for the line feed driver is delayed and initiated after driving of the carrier driver is completed.

    Abstract: An improved image forming apparatus is provided for performing a printing operation on a series of paper and having a serial paper feeding device and a single sheet feeding device. The apparatus causes no paper jams of the series of paper while returning the series of paper to switch from a serial paper feeding mode to a single sheet feeding mode. The image forming apparatus includes a tractor wheel for conveying a series of paper to a printing area and for retreating the series of paper, and a tractor shaft for pivoting the tractor wheel. The image forming apparatus for feeding the series of paper by a serial paper feeding device causes a certain backlash in an initial pivotal movement of the tractor wheel and the tractor shaft.
