Abstract: Thin-client terminal systems allow computer systems to be shared by multiple computer users. With modern technology, the cost of implementing a thin-client terminal system can be very low. To expand the market for thin-client terminal systems, a serial bus interface is used to couple a thin-client terminal system to a computer system.

In the network terminal, a power supply supplies a power to an element of the network terminal, a nonvolatile storage medium stores a basic input/output system (BIOS) that automatically operates upon the supplying of the power, a controller is initialized by the operation of the BIOS in order to enable a connection between the network terminal and a host computer and to enable a download of a terminal operating system (OS) from the host computer to the network terminal, and a volatile storage medium stores the terminal OS downloaded from the host computer.
